When you stop paying players, you can afford new sideline entertainment props like this:
Like his predecessor, Colonel Reb, Tony will bear witness to a lot of humiliation. In fact that's already started.
I'm puzzled about the "Tony" name. Was that another polled fan favorite?

That is one weird, Nickelodeon looking mother fricker.

Pretty sure he is named after the player they called the landshark which started this whole fins up debacle.
Also, his head is too small for this body and arms.

It's after Tony Fein, the original LandShark. Kid was a fan fave, war vet. Passed away back in 2009 of a accidental drug overdose. He had a great story.

I’ll offer an alternative:

The head should be made bigger to make it more lovable if that's possible.
The announcers were laughing at it Saturday night.

If we’re throwing out suggestions, how’s “Porous Larry” as a rep for their current D? And it’s a cheap costume. Guy wearing a sieve on his head.

Tony Fein served in Baghdad where his unit was nicknamed the Landsharks. He then played football at Ole Miss where he nicknamed the 2008-2009 defenses the Landsharks and began the Fins up symbol.

I read about Fein. Orgeron recruited him out of JC to Ole Miss. He was a warrior, literally. He died a tragic death. Life can be so fragile. I didn't understand The LAndshark thing, and I still think the mascot is a little goofy. But they always need to find a way to honor the memory of Tony Fein. Thanks for bringing that up.

Seeing it in person this week was... bizzare. It just feels so dumb.

Sounds like a comedy.

Yeah, PTSD, depression, and pain medications are a real hoot.

No, no...a comedy, not a nature documentary.

I like the idea of why they named it Tony and how they are honoring him, but the mascot is goofy as hell

Really think ya'll should go whole hog and officially change your name to landsharks.

When ESPN showed it on the sidelines Saturday, one of the casters said: "Whoa! That's jarring."
