Flatland Cavalry - Traveler
“I miss College Station, them boys were good to me, I burned Northgate down, I been the life of the party. I’ve seen that 12 man town through a tailgate scene”
He goes on to mention Lubbock too, which is where they originated from.
A lot of songs mention Baton Rouge but I don’t consider those to have anything to do with LSU.
One example is Kenny Chesney - What I need to do. Mentions BR & Knoxville
“87 more Miles gets me into Baton Rouge. There’s a buddy of mine says he might find some work that I can do. Maybe head up north to Knoxville Tennessee. I know my baby sister has got a couch where I can sleep”

Is Dixieland delight just a Bama thing or do other SEC folks jam it too?

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Gang Starr's "Tonz 'O' Gunz" mentions the University of Florida.

Ole Miss - LINK
I'm about to piss off my fellow Rebals*. This was not a popular hit song but it got a little national play and was done on tv a time or two. I remember it from my junior high/early high school years because I mostly listened to what was called "folk music" then. The song is titled "Alma Mater" and my apologies to all who get pissed.

LSU and Les Miles...big sean life should go on. It's the namesake of my screen name on TD. Lol.

These aren't good things.

Say what you will about Corey Smith, but Every Dawg is actually a really good song

They got a name for the winners in the world, I want a name when I lose. They call Alabama the Crimson Tide, call me Deacon Blues.

I haven't read all the way through, but has anyone mentioned the yacht rock classic, "Moonlight Feels Right" by Starbuck?
I guess you could make a case for Alabama too
quote:
You say you came to Baltimore from Ole Miss
Class of seven-four, gold ring
The eastern moon looks ready for a wet kiss
To make the tide rise again
I guess you could make a case for Alabama too

Carrie Underwood's The Night Before.
Not one of her more popular songs but when I attempted to do the long distance relationship thing freshmen year when I went away to LSU my girlfriend definitely made sure I knew about this song .

Ok...first...a lot of these songs mention cities or states, rather than schools. Using that criteria:
Copper Head Road - Steve Earle "He was headed down to Knoxville with the weekly load"
Tennessee Stud - Various Artists
Tennessee Waltz - Various Artists (my favorite being Sam Cooke)
Knoxville Girl - The Louvin Brothers
Daddy's Gone to Knoxville - Mark Knoffler
Rock N Roll Jesus - Kid Rock
1952 Vincent Black Lightning (Del McCoury cover)
I've Been Everywhere - Johnny Cash
When You Leave That Way You Can Never Go Back - Confederate Railroad
Ballad of Thunder Road - Jim & Jesse
Tennessee Jed - Grateful Dead
Tennessee River - Alabama
Tennessee - Carl Perkins
Biggest Fool in Tennessee - Eddy Arnold
Dallas - Alan Jackson
Tennessee Christmas - Amy Grant
T for Texas - Various
God Bless The USA - Lee Greenwood
Tennessee Plates - John Haitt
Leaving Tennessee - Robert Earl Keen
All My Ex's Live in Texas - George Strait
Bucket T - The Who
Who Wouldn't Want to be Me - Keith Urban
Smoky Mountain Rain - Ronnie Milsap
I quit...there are too many freaking mentions of Tennessee or Knoxville in songs to list them all, so I'll just stop there.

There are also songs that mention "Little Rock" in reference to the Central High integration crisis.
That's nothing to be proud of.

There's some God-awful Elvis song from one of his 60s movies about Spring Break that mentions Auburn in a list of different colleges (Michigan State is the only one I remember.)
