People are losing their shite about Acuna not being called up yet, which is a little ridiculous IMO

I've read mixed reports about the weather being crap and he's not hot right now. TIFWIW

People are idiots. Another week or two really doesnt matter in the grand scheme of things.
Also, if these so called fans want someone to bitch about, bitch about the players association allowing these stupid service time rules in effect. The Braves are backed into a corner because of it, and really have to wait until Acuna is hot before they bring him up, otherwise its obvious that he was sent down just because of service time.

Game on! Go chop the phils Bravos! I think, in my armchair opionion only, they should have kept Albies and Swanson up higher in the lineup... but what do I know?
Posted on 4/16/18 at 7:55 pm to dudeabides
Braves are up 2 to 1, cause of Albies and Ender and the Phillies got their run on a solo homer in the 1st and about all their other batters so far are getting K'd by Juliooooo.

Teheran finally has a good game at home

You said it, man had a 1.50 era and 9 k's for the night.

The bullpen has done a number on me.

I'm not sold on minter yet. He has location issues.

Glad Minter got out of that scoring position trouble he got himself in.

Really good win. Cold as shite and first game back in Atlanta.

Yep good to see the Braves win! Tied for 2nd, hope they sweep 'em! Phillies had their 6 game win streak chopped in pieces too.

Still trying to figure out what happened at Wrigley.
How could the Braves pitchers have so much trouble gripping the ball and throwing strikes in the 8th and the Cub's relievers almost none in the 8th and 9th??
I have my suspicions.

that was a fun game to be at last night even though the crowd was sparse.
I gave that new mascot a lot of shite when it was announced, but he does a good job of playing with the crowd and entertaining the kids and the women who don't really care about the action. The Braves haven't really had that before.
Regarding the actual game, my enthusiasm waned a bit when I knew that A) acuna would not be debuting (the reason i bought the tickets in the first place), and B) that Teheran's start in Chicago was cancelled and he was pushed to the game that I was attending. I figured those two things would be recipe for disaster, but he surprised me and I was thrilled with the outcome.
Yes, there are a lot of people losing their shite about Acuna. A lot of these are the same people that wanted him up on opening day. My only motivation for wanting him up after April 13th was that I wanted to see his home debut in person. I was there for Heyward's opener and I want to be there for Acuna's as well. I'll just have to play it by ear now and buy some last minute seats once we get official word that he's coming up.

Braves records against each opponent so far:
Phillies: 3-1
Nationals: 3-3
Cubs: 1-1
Rockies: 2-1
The reason I'm trying to keep track of these records this year is that, if you look at last year (73-89), you can easily see what the difference between a winning team and a losing team is. The Braves went 6-13 against Philly last year, and Philly still finished behind us in the standings. That's how godawful they were. If you improve your team enough to finish 13-6 instead of 6-13, now you are all of a sudden in the 80 win area. 87 wins gets you a spot in the wild card last year.
Whoever the bottom feeders end of being this year (Cincy, Miami...), the Braves HAVE to dominate them in addition to treading water against the best teams (like they have done against Washington last year and so far this year). Do that and we are in the Wild Card picture.
We were 7-12 against the Mets and 2-5 against the Pirates, two teams that finished with similar records to the Braves last year. Flip the script against 3 bad teams last year and you are talking about a wild card.
I'm not saying we were a playoff caliber team or "if this and if that", I'm just saying that that is the difference and where my focus is going to be this year to see how it plays out.

I figured when I didn't see the weekly thread that you decided to go to the game
And I remember a few of y'all trying to time Acuna's debut.
I plan on going to one or two games this weekend. The Mets have one of the best records in the league, should be a fun series. I hope they bring up Acuna.

I have tickets for May 4th as well, so I might still get to see his home debut if he doesn't make it up this week. It'll be interesting to see what they do with him at this point. If he's not up by this weekend, then they have another long 3 city roadtrip. I'm curious if they'll want to wait until they are back home so that he can stay in a routine or if they would throw him into the fire of a long roadtrip (assuming he starts hitting in AAA).
Jesus, it sounds kinda silly to think about babying these guys, but it is what it is I guess.

You are better than this, devils
I completely understand starting him in the minors to gain an extra year of service time. It would be dumb not to do it. What makes zero sense is not calling up him up after we gained the extra year. Our team is better with Acuna in the lineup and we should be trying to put the best team on the field.
"But, but, but he started cold at AAA."
It's 8 games at AAA after an 8 day break between spring training and official games. We shouldn't let an 8 game sample change the big picture.
