^^^ This was one of my biggest complaints about us last year actually. We have to play more small ball and especially if its with somebody who is struggling with the bat. It puts pressure on the defense and gives you a much better chance of getting something on the board.

Agree. It also can be somewhat of a confidence booster for a guy struggling at the plate to know he helped contribute to a run. I’ve been around this game for quite some time either playing (only community college) or helping out at camps and local teams, and you wouldn’t believe that about 75% of the time when the guy sees a team rallying behind him for helping, his confidence eases back up and he gets in his head that he can do it. Wow that was a long sentence, excuse any paragraph police out there lol.

But I would say that almost all of the time, if someone is struggling it’s in their head. We know they can hit. We know they can come through in the clutch. They have just got it in their head that since they screwed up a few times that they can’t do it anymore. I’ve seen kids who were beasts at the plate, and start to slump, and an idiot coach starts mouthing off and they basically give up, when they could have been an all star. Don’t tell them you’re gonna bench them. Tell them at least, hey I’ll stay a little later today if you want to go out to the cages and take some extra swings. This game is one of the most mental games you play. The physical part you have or you don’t. But if you dont have any support during the bad times, then you can hang it up with that kid. Those are the ones that I loved to work with the most. Because more times than not, they wanted it more. To contribute any way possible. Just need that nudge of confidence to get them back going. Even if they ground out or hit in a DP. Get the bat back on the ball and let them know you see progress. Encouragement goes along way with some.

Sorry for the wall of text. Just sitting here trying to wait patiently at Dr with daughter since it’s only a freaking hour past the scheduled time ha.

Regardless of how talented the teams that you are playing are, a 1.86 team ERA through 7 games is ridiculous.

I totally agree. They have been incredibly impressive. Now if we can keep giving run support to them we could see a special year. Still early on, and hoping arms can hold up, but still impressive. Scratch out any runs we can to help them out.

We got this. This team just needs to find a rythum, and I like the adjustments we've made so far this season.

This team comes on strong late, theye been great at readjusting and figuring it out at the plate.

If a storm rolls in and they call the game early, because its a one game series, do they just give the win to whoever is in the lead?

I hate to say it, but the umps are really makin a lot of calls in our favor. Better us than them, but I'd be pretty pissed if I was Murray State.

Golsan hasn't been helping us much at bat but I think he deserves a little time to figure it out and get some confidence back. Not to mention he's by far our best defensive outfielder.
