They better be as good a recruiter as key. Technician is secondary to recruiting from the ol coach.

I actually disagree with this entire post. Both points. Key wasn't a very good recruiter. Not bad, but he incurred CNS' wrath on the recruiting trail this year. He squandered Webb, even though I don't care a whole lot about him. Was a bit fortunate to have Quick and Kight as Bama locks... and have Locksley do a ton of work to get Neal and Dalcourt. Key did do a good job with Bowles. Have seen several insiders (the ones that I listen to) mention for weeks now that there was a very good chance that Key was going to be nudged elsewhere. I even posted it here.

I actually think a good technician as an OL coach is just about the most important (maybe outside of QB coach) position coach to have.

I think he’s about the only one that thinks the opposite. We have such good recruiters, and such a good closer with Saban, that we can afford to have a few technical coaches. And they need to be on the lines.

That's a poor choice of words. Pittman was just able to establish a better relationship with him. Plus, he does come from a family full of Georgia grads.

Yep, and I'm pretty sure I read a quote from Wright basically saying that Key is the only reason he's considering Alabama.
