‘Not a me award’: Bama commit Pierce Quick looks to future as he gets All-American jersey

quote:

Pierce Quick is Hewitt-Trussville's first Under Armour All-American.

Quick, the 5-star Alabama commit and Hewitt-Trussville senior lineman, received his honorary Under Armour All-American jersey today during a ceremony at his high school in Trussville.

"This is not a me award," he said. "It's a team award."

Hewitt-Trussville coach Josh Floyd praised Quick's work ethic and leadership and said Quick's All-American status is "a great honor for our entire community."

"We're just super, super proud of him," Floyd said.

Talking to reporters after the ceremony, Quick looked to the future.

He said he isn't worried about the threat of injury in the All-American game, set for Jan. 3 in Orlando, and said the chance to play with and against some of the nation's elite players outweighed the injury risk.

Quick also said everything remains in place for him to graduate in December and enroll at Alabama in time for bowl practices.

Hewitt-Trussville (7-3) ended its regular season with last week’s 63-49 loss to Thompson and is looking forward to the playoffs, which start Nov. 8. The Huskies are idle this week.

"Everybody is 0-0 now," Quick said. "It doesn't matter what you've done so far or who you beat. It's a new season."

Quick was also asked to analyze this week’s LSU-Alabama game, a game he said he’ll “probably watch from the couch.”

“I think it will be a good test for Alabama,” he said. “But I don’t think anybody can beat Alabama this year, not with their quarterback and the team they’ve got.”

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have Webb.

However, I don't think he's a better player than either Wright or Neal, and he doesn't want to play the position he's best suited for, physically, at the next level.
