Bud Elliott, National Recruiting Analyst for SB Nation made 10 CB picks this morning, including Devonta Lee to Bama, Antonio Alfano to Bama and Foggy for Nolan Smith.

When our major political parties offer Hillary and Trump as our choices, when the entire system is based on serving interests of major campaign fund contributors and lobbyists instead of "we the people," and when violation of the tenets of our Constitution has become SOP...

Well, while I agree here, it is a bit more complex. Hillary was gifted her parties nomination as was evidenced by the fact that they only had 2 other people in the party running - one, a former Clintonite and the other a current socialist (never mind the further evidence that came out after the fact about what the DNC was doing to gift her the nomination). That party trotted out Old White Guy, Old White Lady, and Rich Middle Aged White Guy, yet claim to be the party of diversity.

The Republicans had like 13 candidates running. They had women, african americans, hispanic americans, etc. They all cannibalized each other and in the end, the system was set up so that Trump (despite never carrying more than 35% of the primary votes until it was obvious) got the nomination. The rest of us were sort of left with those two bad choices and decided "anyone but her" would be our best option.

I blame the Dems for putting such a horrible candidate up that we had umpteen Republicans all chomping at the bit trying to run against her!

Instead, let's do Washington DC area recruiting:

Take Two: Why does Alabama recruit the DMV area so well? (Rivals)

Rivals.com National Recruiting Analyst Adam Gorney lays out the situation and then receives takes from Rivals.com National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell and a local or regional expert from the Rivals.com network.

THE STORYLINE

Alabama has proven it can go anywhere to get any prospect, especially with the Crimson Tide’s wild success under coach Nick Saban. But they’ve been particularly successful dipping into the DMV area (D.C., Maryland and Virginia) for top recruits who have panned out and been some of the program’s best players in recent years.

Offensive linemen Arie Kouandjio and his brother, Cyrus Kouandjio, both played at Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha before going on to Alabama and then the NFL. Both are still on pro rosters.

Five-star defensive end Jonathan Allen picked the Crimson Tide out of Ashburn (Va.) Stone Bridge and he was a first-round pick by the Washington Redskins in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Former No. 1 overall prospect Da’Shawn Hand, from Woodbridge, Va., selected Alabama and although his career didn’t exactly pan out in Tuscaloosa he was still a fourth-round pick of the Detroit Lions in the NFL Draft last month.

So many players from that area of the country – which used to be even more fertile recruiting ground for Penn State – have decided to head to Alabama instead and it’s paid off.

It doesn’t look as if it’s slowing down, either. The top-rated player in Maryland last recruiting cycle, five-star defensive end Eyabi Anoma, signed with the Crimson Tide. Top inside linebacker and No. 1 prospect in Maryland this cycle, Shane Lee, has already committed to Alabama. Both are from Baltimore St. Frances.

Why have so many top-rated players from the DMV area gone to Tuscaloosa rather than staying closer to home at big-time programs in their region?

FIRST TAKE: ADAM FRIEDMAN, RIVALS MID-ATLANTIC RECRUITING ANALYST

“Over the years, Alabama has plenty of top players from the DMV and Rivals100 linebacker Shane Lee will likely make another one when he signs in December. The biggest similarity from when this run started with Arie Kouandjio in 2010 to now is that Alabama can consistently develop talented prospects and turn them into NFL prospects.

"Players from this region that end up at Alabama are hyper-focused on how to make that leap and see Alabama’s formula has a good track record. Under Nick Saban, Alabama has always had at least one coach that has strong ties to the DMV. That has certainly helped make players feel comfortable in Tuscaloosa. Right now, that coach is offensive coordinator Mike Locksley and it was a major factor in the recruitment of Lee.” – Friedman

SECOND TAKE: MIKE FARRELL, RIVALS NATIONAL RECRUITING DIRECTOR

“They spot recruit very well there. I would say Florida State does as well. There are certain schools that have a very good connection there, a very good feel there, their coaches have good relationships there and Alabama is one of them.

When you start bringing successful players in like Florida State did with Eddie Goldman and Ronald Darby and obviously Alabama with Cyrus Jones and Da’Shawn Hand and guys like that, it’s going to be easier to go back there and impress those kids because they’ve seen other kids go ahead of them.” – Farrell

State rankings: D.C. | Maryland | Virginia

Note: Perhaps more than it has appeared – a la Shane Lee's recruitment – Bama is recruiting two teammates from Dematha Catholic High School (Hyattsville, MD), where the Kouandjios attended.

4* S/NB Nick Cross 6-1/205 (MD) hudl

4* WR/S DeMarcco Hellams 6-1/205 (MD) hudl

Other Bama targets in the DMV area include:

4* RB Keilan Robinson 5-10/184 (DC) hudl

4* DE Hakeem Beamon 6-4/254 (VA) hudl

Locksley is well connected and highly regarded in the DMV area. Parents feel very comfortable entrusting their sons to his (and CNS') tutelage.

Damn. Stay safe and I pray you can get back home soon.

TidalSurge, I thinkwe kind of see things in the same way. Theater for the masses. To put it very mildly, things are MUCH different than what our controlled media shows the public. And that includes Fox News, as well. It's all about the Hegelian dialect. Create the crisis. Anticipate the reaction. Provide the solution. (In a nutshell)

Not heard a thing other than Jordan Davis being a major risk for not making grades (test scores) in the 2018 class. Not been much new on my end for the 2019 class lately that hasn't already been posted here.

Honestly how kids can't make the needed grades in high school (outside of personal circumstances) I'll never know. I have had to tell kids you are putting more energy into failing this class than the effort it would take to pass it. The teacher has no interest in seeing you do poorly. I am not saying that is Jordan's case, it just drives me nuts in general.

His HS test scores & grades or ACT/SAT scores? Any feel for his chances of qualifying?

I spent my first 5+ years in education at the HS level and they never ceased to amaze me with their laziness. I always told them not to shut it down until the last day, not put it on cruise control. I also told them that it was easier for me to add zeros instead of adding up those crooked numbers!!! The last 19 years, I have been in PE at a K-2 school. DO NOT MISS HS AT ALL!!!!

A Penn State guy switched his CB pick for 4-star WR/S Demarcco Hellams from PSU to Clemson. Hellams has 5 CBs, all Clemson, 2nd in 2 days. Wiltfong did the 1st one Mar 14. Hellams visited UA Mar 23. He's a really good prospect, imo.

ETA: Demetric Warren also CBd Hellams to Clemson tonight.

ACT, I think. No clue about his overall chances.
