Exactly.
Players usually drop weight between week one and the final week before bowl season. Your workouts between games are focused on conditioning and maintaining. There’s just not the time needed between classes, studying, practicing, and game planning to focus on building back the kind of muscle and strength that you lose after breaking a leg.

Cleared medically. So the bone is healed and he’s cleared to go but that doesn’t mean he’s anything near ready to start a season.
You’re right that depth is concerning. And I don’t know what the issue is with our group of guards because we’ve had some maulers in recent years at that position under the same S&C and OL coaches. There’s some thought that Lindsey had a lot to do with guard play but I’m not as versed enough in that to explain why that matters

We will be fine. Our OL gets a bad rap, but our RB talent wasnt up to par this past season. We need some impact freshmen.

I’m not prepared to say our OL isn’t a concern next season but I think the whole group improves and I think Brahms being back 100% at C can be the catalyst to helping those guards get back on track.
I think Tega is above average at LT and Driscol is solidly average. And I really like this class we’re bringing in at G with Osborne, Jones, and probably Bell. Tackle recruitment is a huge concern so hopefully we can snag a transfer or two to patch that up.

I can’t really emphasize enough how weak you become after breaking a leg. There’s a period of time where you can’t even do PT. You’re just sitting and seeing the surgeon every week to check in on how the leg is healing.
Brahms was scooting around campus last summer and was cleared to put full weight down just weeks before fall camp. And despite that he beat out Kim
Anyhow, I’m really looking forward to seeing him play after a full off-season of S&C. We do have the same issue should he get injured again
Thanks Jones, Ive been saying the same thing. And its not just one leg, its both given that he was scooting around. And takes quite a while to push up against 300lb linemen.

If we have this issue resolved and have settled on a starting backfield going into 2019, we could surprise some people. Myself included

Najee Harris transferring from Bama. We should be all over him but I'm sure Saban will put restrictions on what SEC schools he can go to.

And the sit out rule is about to be relaxed. Play immediately for first timers.

The biggest of those visitors is four-star running back Jamious Griffin, who is committed to NC State. Griffin is rated as the nation’s No. 21 running back prospect and the 345th overall recruit in the 2019 class. The 5-foot-10, 205-pounder out of Rome, Ga., is the No. 40 prospect in his state, and he has been committed to the Wolfpack since May.

Auburn is also expected to host three-star offensive lineman Kamaar Bell, out of Georgia’s Colquitt County. Bell, the No. 33 offensive guard in the country, is one of the Tigers' top remaining targets along the offensive line. Three-star safety Jammie Robinson and three-star linebacker Octavius Brothers are also scheduled to take their official visits this weekend. Robinson is the No. 31 safety in the class and is considering South Carolina and Kentucky, among others, while Brothers is the No. 140 outside linebacker in the nation and is also taking visits to Georgia Tech and Ole Miss this month.
quote:
The Tigers are also set to host one-time commit Jamond Gordon, a 6-4, 268-pound defensive end out of Meridian, Miss. Gordon, a three-star prospect who rated as the No. 35 strongside end in the class, decommitted from Auburn the day before the start of last month’s early signing period. His decision is expected to come down to the Tigers and Ole Miss, which is scheduled to host him on an official visit next weekend.

Soo Mark Murphy posted an interesting nugget this morning. He says we can sign 10 more in this class. That would be a total of 26 instead of the 25 most had reported. FWIW MM historically has had the best info on class number availability.
