They did it with 3 turnovers. Notice the: ''but...'', this usually means in spite of something.
So that's the point, which you failed to quote?

SMU had UCF's worst game -- UCF didn't play very well but they still came out on top and now UCF is 8 - 0, they will probably go 10 - 0 and then have to play USF.
In 1.6 years he took a team from 0 - 12 to 8 - 0. Pretty impressive.

SMU's coach is well respected also. To me your over emphasizing your disapproval of him. That's your choice.
We have 3 more weeks to look at styles and criticize coaches. In the end we will get behind the new hire.
I liked his style personally but I like others also.

Frost is the overwhelming fan favorite, there is some value in that. His hire would generate excitement and momentum, haven't had that in a new hire since Meyer.

I mean, I know it sounds stupid: But riling up the fan base is exactly what we need. Frost brings a lot of energy, he's lucid and he has a fun style that could really fly here at Florida. Most people would feel elated to have him, it's a big change from what we had.
I don't understand talking him down, his team has impressed me thus far.

SMU got 500 yards because of 3 turnovers? Huh?
UCF's 1st INT, SMU went 3 and out. The next INT was a pick 6. Those had nothing to do with SMU's offense. The next turnover was on the goal line, where SMU marched 93 yards down the field. I'm not getting what you mean that turnovers led to all those yards. SMU was driving up and down the field the entire game. They just couldn't finish drives. They had like 8 minutes more time of possession and basically stopped themselves with stupid shite.
I don't need to use this game to vindicate or implicate Frost. I've already said that I think he's a good coach. I'm not trying to put him down or UCF. My point is that there is not near enough a sample size to determine if he's a proven winning coach. At this point, Frost is a huge risk, just like 3 out of the last 4 coaches we hired. I'm not sure why you're so easy to risk the future of this program on a guy that's coached 21 games? I don't get how you can get hyped up over a guy that doesn't have a quality win on his resume? What's your angle here?

My only fear is that Scott Frost might be Tom Herman of 2016 and he was sought by everyone with a vacancy....he coached at a AAC school. Look at Texas...they are fixing to be 4-5 and lost to that powerhouse Maryland team at home...a behind the woodshed beat down.
Our new OC may be someone no one is even thinking about. It usually has been the last 3 HCs. Lets pray we get it right.

Frost is the fan fav, and its not even close. Twitter did a poll and he received over 70% of fan votes.
Frost is this years Tom Herman with the “it” factor, hopefully he doesnt pull a TH on us like Tom did LSU

Texas was already in pretty rough shape and honestly -- that was a mess to take over.
Florida isn't in that rough of shape (yet). As long as the class holds up, we'll be okay. A guy like Frost can take Corral and take us to the promised land.
If you watched the game, the hype is real.

Goddamn, man. It's frustrating to watch you battle imaginary enemies.

Comparing Frost to Meyer is insanity. This guy is not in the same zip code. Meyer was a PROVEN head coach where he immediately turned around 2 different teams that were in the dumpster. His Utah team actually played several big boy, quality teams and they beat them all.
The only excited UF fans calling for Frost are the delusional ones that liked McElwain too and kept making excuses for him to the bitter end. What momentum are you talking about when Frost has to learn on the job??? That is crazy talk.

Oh, well damn. Let's print the T-shirts.
UF has the most delusional fanbase in CFB. Most are sunshine pumpers that wouldn't know football if it hit them in the arse. UF fans drive up UF point spreads each week because they think UF is going to win every game even when we've looked like shite the last decade.
How long are the fans going to settle for up and coming hot shots, instead of bringing in PROVEN coaches? If Frost did come to UF, what coaching staff do you think he would bring? Do you really think they would be able to compete against the elite coaching staffs of the SEC? GTFOH.

Because the PROVEN coaches just cant wait to leave where they are already established?
Im down, lets get Saban.

Meyer was an unproven HC from a rather benign school out West and came to Florida with immediate success. His offense is exciting, his team is well-disciplined when their defense isn't tired from their offense scoring so fast and he's a genuinely good guy.
Doesn't seem to bring controversy, most fans like him and we know he will be able to recruit here because it's UF.
In the end, the most important:
I like his offense, I like his demeanor and I like his compassion.
Honestly, if we don't get him then who? Mullen isn't leaving (his wife hates us), Frost beat the frick out of Memphis and Norvell this year, Taggart has a losing overall record (Florida fans aren't going to like that), Campbell is way too expensive, Kiffin's too controversial, Kelly's not coming here, Stoops has already given his no I'm sure.
Really, outside of Kiffin and Frost, there aren't any coaches who are going to make it out here who aren't going to want record amounts of money.

WTH does 3 turnovers have to do with total yards? SMU hasn't been able to stop most teams most nights this entire year. They put up a bunch of yards but their opponents put up a lot of yards as well. What is your point?
TCU - 619 yards TCU had 3 turnovers against SMU too.
North Texas - 500 yards and they had 3 turnovers as well.
Does TCU and UNT putting up a lot of yard with 3 turnovers mean they're great teams too? Where the hell do you come up with your logic? I've never heard ANYONE comparing turnovers to total yards? Stop, please... You're trying to hard.

People say that about all the up and comers. Someone takes the chance on highering him and he kicks butt or shits his pants.
He seems to carry himself well. I guess you want an older proven winner... You hope.

TCU is a legit top 10 team??? Which...means...UCF is legit, too?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the only person trying too hard is the guy saying UCF hasn't played anyone of worth. I think you may be the only person on the board who might be a little disappointed if we got Frost.

So would you prefer a PROVEN coach or one of these 1 year, 2 year wonders?
If you say proven coach, then why would you ever settle for less? Would you just get married to a girl you just met because you didn't think you could do any better? Or are you going to kick the tires and put some miles on her? It is embarrassing to hear these young coaches names even being mentioned. UF should be better than this.
UF has really fallen off the map and it's all because Foley sucked at picking coaches. He kept gambling with this program, trying to find lightning in the bottle. Stricklin would be a damn fool if he does the same. I said in these forums that there was no reason in hell for us to hire unproven coaches in Champ and Mac but Foley never learned his lesson. You could tell from Champ and Mac's first press conferences that they were in above their heads. I mentioned years ago that Foley was negligent in fixing up our facilities too and got roasted in this forum. Somehow I was bitching while other programs moved right ahead of us. Our facilities were/are last in the SEC, which is unacceptable. When are the fans going to stop settling? UF should have THE BEST facilities and it damn sure should have the BEST coaches. Not guys learning on the fricking job.

What proven coach are you bringing to Florida? Kiffin?
Posted on 11/4/17 at 10:49 pm to GatorNation4Lyfe
Please by all means. Wow us with your choices who will come to UF right now.
Saban supposedly turned down what, 100 mill from Texas?? Guys who are proven and settled are not leaving where they are to start over. Period
