Multiple sources have confirmed to me that Florida administrators have drawn up the papers that would make Chip Kelly the next head coach of the Florida Gators. The deal would be for six years, and would pay him large bonuses for winning the SEC and national championships. Also in the deal is a huge budget for his future assistant coaches.

Calm before the storm.

All the guys trying to be first have posted something.

UF will leak it to a national guy first if anything is happening. Then the local guys get told to be at the presser.

Today does fit the UAA's pattern of hires because there are no home games today and tomorrow is a home basketball game.

Well, Corral is going to visit Bama so we better move our asses if Chip is the guy.

Which he should be

Everyone is anxious to get this done ASAP, but all indications are still that Stricklin wants Chip and Chip wants UF. Don't know when it will happen, but still believe that's the ultimate choice.

And those 7 #ChipKelly Losses were:

1) @ Boise State (finished 14-0, #4)
2) @ Stanford (under Jim Harbaugh)
3) vs. Ohio State (finished 5th)
4) vs. Auburn (in Championship Game, Loss by 3)
5) vs. LSU (finished 13-1, 2nd)
6) vs. USC (finished 6th)
7) vs. Stanford (finished 7th)

At Oregon with mid level talent

SECCountry said that Spurrier and Stricklin have differing opinions per Heitner -- the guy who broke the story of McElwain and Chip Kelly (for those who don't follow Florida football) -- Spurrier wants Frost, Stricklin is just fine with Kelly.

I don't think we can wait for Frost to shite or get off the pot. He would need to make the move very soon or we risk our class -- and yes, it's important to keep this class together. We already don't have the bodies on either side of the ball and we'd be fielding basically walk-ons.

This is kind of like the Corral / Fields dilemma. You would want Fields, but you have no idea when he's going to commit, so you take Corral instead because it's immediate (obviously skills and capacities are different, but the gist is the immediate nature vs. the wait and play chess).

I prefer to take Chip now than even have a 75% chance of Frost in the future.

i just figured strick went after kelly because frost either told him he wants nebraska or told him it'll be after a bowl game before he makes a decision.

id take kelly over frost either way, but it seems like that's what has happened.

think we would have heard about kelly sooner if that isn't the case.

Steve wants a young guy he can manipulate. Chip would tell him to kick rocks.

probably best to do what stricklin says and relax. i think this is in the bag and we're just waiting on a press conference. all that stuff about SOS is bullshite.

I heard Kelly reached out to Florida -- and I'll say this.

No one fricking says no to Kelly, no matter who is around right now.

Frost doesn't want to commit, that's fine. He should have. I would have loved to have had him at Florida, but he's playing hardball so we're going to go with the most sought out coach in the country.

I understand Spurrier, but if Frost doesn't even want to think about this until December it's time to move on and get someone who wants to.

I’m starting to believe that it isn’t Kelly you guys. There’s no way we’re that lucky.

It is man, be patient.

Remember when I told you that we had vetted him well before last weekend? This has been in the making for a while.

99% it will be Kelly unless he's made some outrageously huge demands -- but he won't. The school and Kelly are happy with each other, and they both know that they can help each other's respective brands' immensely.

I also said that this will take some time -- this is going to be a major contract. Chip Kelly is going to ask for a lot of things and we will probably give it to him because we've painted ourselves into a really bad corner. Kudos to him for getting us to jump, because if we don't make this hire.

If we go back on this, it will be a long, long year recruiting wise.

The whole class will drop off, and we'll have to try and pick up the pieces with plan B.

Also:

Stricklin wouldn't be trolling his own fanbase unless he was absolutely certain of what is to come. He knows how crazy we are (they recently took off the UAA planes from the registry) and he knows who we want. He pays attention.

If he, essentially, spent about two weeks trolling the frick out of us to announce someone other than Kelly, even his seat would be warm. A lot of people would be very, very upset with him.

In every respect: If Kelly wasn't the #1, they would have said it and would have at least let us know that we're moving on. That isn't the case.

It'll be Kelly, babe, don't fret.
