Florida's Caleb Dressel Goes 40.00 in 100y Freestyle!

Fastest in human history! Splits were 19.01 and 20.99. Coming off the heels of his NCAA record in the 50 Free and American Record and NCAA title in the 100 butterfly.
Guy also split 17.77 in the 200 free relay a couple nights ago for the fastest split in world history.

I'm liking my chances for bama to sneak into the top 10. Uf looking like 3rd, mizzou 8th, uga 9th. Platform diving and 400 free relay left.

We are 11th, Louisville is 10th, but missed a and b finals in the relay and no divers. Auburn is 19 points back, but has a b finals diver and is in b finals relay with us. It'll be close one way or another.
I'm from the same area as Caleb, my timeline is so much worse than you could possibly imagine lol. We killed 100 back points and the relays. Can't believe we broke a record last night, while finishing second in the 200 medley relay. As someone who swam 400 im, i hate seeing my team so sprinter oriented... but it's the college game.

Swimming 100 yards in 40 seconds is insane. It wasn't that long ago that 45 seconds seemed amazing.

You are probably the best athlete on the rant. 400iM is the toughest event in sports in my opinion. Just finishing it is an accomplishment in itself.

200 yard freestyle is the most painful. 400 IM, maybe in long-course, is the worst. A whole lot different losing out on eight turns...

My daughter swam her first 200 frees this season at 11. She's under 2:20 but says the same thing. The edge of sprint vs. distance is tough. She didn't even swim it at short course state.

Interest level was too low and coaches had issues with the timing of the meet being so close to other major meets.

We heard from a parent it's because Louisiana sent their best swimmers and Mississippi didn't. It was always one sided

Well, to be fair, that hits the same point. If MS club coaches push their best swimmers to travel to other meets and not the All-Star meet, then this exacerbates that problem. MS was not sending their best because most wanted to go to Sectionals instead and not do the back-to-back-to-back meet weekends from State, Sectionals, and then All-Star meets.

My kids both swim. That 40.00 is just freaking amazing!
My oldest daughter would beg to differ with you on the hardest event. The 400 IM would be right up there and she likes swimming it but isn't real fast at it because her backstroke sucks. The other killer event that is one of, if not the toughest according to the kids we swim with is 200 fly. That's brutal. My oldest is in 9th grade and is consistently making Southeastern Swimming qualifying times but is struggling to get to the next level of Jr. Nationals.

I mean, I don't think it's possible to prove it one way or the other. I swam long enough to know what hurt me the most. Lol. I made Juniors in the 200 IM but never really hit that 400 IM that well....my backstroke killed me, too. I never minded the 200 fly...pretty consistent flow to that one. Conditioning plays a bigger role in it - plus, my underwaters were never that good in fly so I spent more time on top the water breathing which makes it easier.
