Not complaining, just curious, but what sparked the 1970 start date?
LSU had a terrible 90s and it should in no way be omitted. We have been upper big 6 outside of that decade and overall including that decade though
All time (program rankings not win%)
1 Alabama
T2 Tennessee
T2 LSU
4 Georgia
5 Auburn
6 Florida
Since 90s
1 Alabama
2 Florida
Since 2000s
1 Alabama
2 LSU
3 Florida
Pre 2000s (since it will come up)
1 Alabama
2 Tennessee
T3 Georgia
T3 LSU
5 Auburn
T6 A&M
T6 Florida

Dafuq? If anything I would put them as one of the least consistent on a year to year basis. Peaks and valleys in performance... Particularly in the last decade and a half or so.
ETA - And I mean that as a compliment. Instead of coming in consistently at 8-10 wins (see: Richt), AU had higher peaks and lower valleys during that same stretch.

If by "consistent", you mean "riding a roller coaster".

The good thing about consistency is the lack thereof is still in a way being consistent.

If anything, Vandy is the most consistent in the conference

Cool story bro. Army use to be good too.

Of course, in the case of Alabama, that isn't the real story . UA won 31 games, on the field, that the ncaa decided should be forfeited or vacated. Meanwhile, Auburn was docked televised games and couldn't go to a bowl game, after their coaches paid players. It's totally arbitrary. More proof of that: Auburn paid for Cam Newton and got away with it. Ole Miss is about to get pounded.
The games were forfeited/vacated for a reason. Otherwise we have 11 SEC titles instead of 8, right?

Use to be? English genius.

I personally believe Florida has a right to claim those titles. But that's just me.

We even have the damn trophy still for 1984. It was "lost" when the SEC wanted it back.

If you don't understand how screwed up this "contest" is then I can't help you.

Damn ... and that's with that curse 0-21 streak Fat Bradstard Scott stuck us with from 98-99.
Had we gone 10-11 during that streak ...
How bad are numbers 10-14 :::: cough :::: mizzou

It's pretty remarkable that UF has vaulted to 6th in just the past quarter century. Prior to that, they were very near the bottom of the conference.

This is impossible. I was specifically told by several SEC fanbases that LSU was founded by Nick Saban in 2000.
I'm so confused.

auburn is fairly consistent. Especially the last 30 years for sure. At least they are generally in the mix for the SEC. One thing I will say I think that goes against them is that they've had back to back 10 win seasons only once in their history (someone correct me if I wrong please). Aside from that they have been very consistent the last 30 years

Not really a debate. 1970 is just around the time that all SEC teams integrated (and yes, it's sad it was so late), so that is a clear line of demarcation, imo, from the old days.

Not sure what you mean. Alabama won more before the 70s and after the 70s. If you mean that LSU is better now than before the 70s, I'll admit that I am no expert about that, but I do know that UGA has won as many titles as LSU since the 70s, and UF has won more.
