It's a cop-out, intellectually and ethically, an attempt to make your opponent seem unreasonable to excuse your unwillingness to engage. Just say you don't care to discuss the topic with someone who strongly disagrees with you and you strongly disagree with. It's much more honest and a perfectly acceptable reason.

Actually, it's more about critical pathways and efficiency. I do not waste my time arguing things that I can't win or lose. He has his beliefs and that's fine. I prefer to spend my time with those that are at least willing to listen. I spend time in a prison ministry and even though many of them have never been exposed to it, they are at least willing to listen. They receive or they don't. I can't control that.
