Rule of thumb, whatever place you think Ole Miss will finish add 2 or 3 and that is what they will do

Mizzou will go by way of baseball. Talking big shite until they reach conference play. Then they will disappear talking up their shite.

I agree for the most part. We could still end up with a strong mid-major hire. I would be ok with that.

You're a fricking Mississippi State fan. Sounds like you're expertly qualified on the above.

This thread had basically devolved into an Auburn vs. Alabama pissing match so I jumped in. My bad

I still contest this

quote:

Their team next will be drastically changed from this years strengths

as I think Hall + Giddens will be one of the best defensive/rebounding combos in the conference.

And I don't think that Sexton needs to do anything crazy for them to improve offensively. Averaging double figures and being a threat to create his own shot will do wonders for their offense.

Yeah, probably. I like Ole Miss' roster but other teams have higher ceilings.

I feel the same way about UGA next year

All of Auburn's conference wins come against the bottom three teams of the SEC and Bama. It doesn't make sense for you to act like Bama sucks by criticizing our schedule and say Auburn is going to make a great leap when the only reason our schedule is worse is because Auburn finished 11th opposed to our 5th.

I don't think we finish 3rd next year, but I don't think it's that ridiculous either after adding the 5th best class in the country to an already average group. Other than Kentucky being at or near the top and LSU and Mizzou being at or near the bottom, the conference standings are hard to predict for next season.

The only teams we didn't blow double digit leads against were Kentucky, Florida, South Carolina, and Vanderbilt.

We obviously have the talent and showed it every game this season except a few. Just weren't able to put together full games with our best players being freshmen and having zero upperclass leadership to guide them.

Look at the stats from AUs games and it's crazy how many teams shot insanely higher than their season averages against us. Bama was able to pull out some games against more talented teams that were some of the worst offensive games I've seen. Bama was better than us on defense but that definitely doesn't tell the whole story. If you watched your team you know there were games where your opponents couldn't hit anything at all, while Auburn had games where we were contesting shots but the other team jusy couldn't miss, raining down insane contested 3s.

We caught some teams hot and yall caught some teams cold. Nothing wrong with that, its just how it goes sometimes. In the h2h games it was obvious both times that AU was the better team on the court. When say scheduling it's not the teams that were played, it's the timing of the games. Obviously you can't predict that when the schedule comes out so it's no excuse. But I honestly don't think either of our teams are accurately reflected talent wise by where we finished in the standings.

This is easily explained

Auburn's defense = shite
Alabama's defense = not shite

Any explanation outside of that is pure silly rationalization. Every D1 team can shoot if you don't guard them.

Auburn played a Top 10 tempo this year but didn't play perimeter defense. Not a good mix.

don't see Vandy. Kornet does so much for them in spacing their offense and being their only interior defensive threat. Baptiste has the physical frame of a god but he's looked like he's never seen a basketball at times. I also wouldn't be shocked if MFD leaves.

I know they lose Kornet, but I really like Drew if he sticks with their program. They'll return LaChance, Fisher-Davis, Roberson, and Willis. Which means they will still be able to light teams up from the outside. If Baptiste progresses, they'll be pretty darn good IMO.

Oh yeah that's totally all there is too it.

Bama opponent bricks wide open shot = what amazing defense!

Auburn opponent hits 30 ft 3 with defenders hand in his face = what shite defense

that is the rant narrative

You really think that defense alone explains a team like South Carolina that shoots 34% from 3 to go 15-27 from 3 for 58%? Mkay

Barring any transfers:

Return: Braxton Key, Ar'Mond Davis, Donta Hall, Dazon Ingram, Riley Norris, Avery Jr, and Nick King (hasn't played for most of the year).

Gain: Collin Sexton (5* PG), John Petty (4* SG), Alex Reese (4* PF), Herb Jones (3* SG), Galin Smith (3* C), and Daniel Giddens (C, transfer from Ohio State).

Lose: Shannon Hale (thank god), Jimmy Taylor, Corban Collins, and Bola Olaniyan.

We'll have an interesting back court next year with Sexton and Petty. Really will miss Bola's ability to dominate the boards, but he really brings nothing to the table offensively. Jury is still out Avery on whether he can succeed or not, but I think he's done well with what he's had to deal with and not being able to implement his system.

Alabama would have been a MUCH better team this year with any descent guard play. That should be greatly improved next year with what's coming in. I honestly believe Avery's going to have one of the most entertaining teams in the league next year when he can let them run.

Except Hall is just a pretty good rebounder + Giddens showed subpar rebounding efficiency ability wihle at OSU.

Alabama is losing Jimmie Taylor (Hall level) + Bola who is probably a top 10-15 rebounder nationally. Replacing either one with Giddens is a clearly tsep down

Alabama overall will improve, would be shocking if they didn't. To say that Alabama will be top 3? That is LSU football level delusion right there
