Sorry you didn't specify what metric you were using.
That's fair enough. Unfortunately, the tournament selection committee doesn't really give a shite about where we finish in conference largely, other than maybe for determining seeding once selections have been determined. Prior to that, RPI seems to be the primary guiding factor... certainly some teams with lower RPIs get selected on occasion, but by and large, it's a good enough metric to evaluate probability of making it in the tournament from the conference.

Yeah...I was being sarcastic. It's not like We were dominating the East and CKS ruined everything.
I'm actually with Buck this year. If he doesn't win the East he won't be a clown but it will be a disappointment. I'm looking to see progress going into year 2 and whether CKS can coach. He's had time to get a feel for the place and over his head guy jitters.
Cheney is really the key. Unless Eason turns into a total flop I don't see how he can't improve bigly in red zone and overall offensive production with Chubb and Michel back.

Yeah the sarcasm is the scary part. That's why we fired richt so we could be winning shite.
He didn't come into a total rebuild situation. And with the circumstances being what they are with our schedule, talent, and our division rivals being down the only factor that could hold us back is coaching...barring an lot of injuries.
Now the coaching could be great and I hope it is, but if he doesn't get to Atlanta I don't see how you couldn't be disappointed.

It is all in the trenches.
Except for Wynn and underclassmen, none of our highly talented players are on the OL. And Wynn was recruited for OT. He's limited in what he gives us as a guard due to being so small. Same problem as being forced to play Pyke at RT (not utilizing him at his best position)

I;m not sure that we can win the East with Eason at QB. Eason will probably be great in the G-Day game and in practice but not so much in real action. I fail to see the potential. Expect the opposition to load the box and blitz like crazy.

You know, you can take a few weeks off and anytime somebody mentions expecting to win football games next year, we can just copy one of your 85 identical posts and paste them under your name for you.

That would be helpful.
Youre an angel.
Anything I can do to return the favor? You want an in depth breakdown on rushing TDs scored or allowed?
An in depth breakdown on what positions are talent rich and which ones are youthful talent only?
Schedule analysis detailing the tough games away from our friendly confines?

Not a total rebuild but a new coaching staff with a freshman QB, makeshift OL, etc etc.
But we've been through all that. I expect improvement and winning the East barring any crazy injuries and to be actually competing (not just showing up) for the SEC in 2018.

Pretty much right there with you. But as you mentioned earlier, it can be a disappointing season without indicating that Smart is a clown or 'not the guy'.

In all seriousness ...what would you consider a total rebuild.
Muschamps situation in SC? McElwain when he showed up at FL? TN next year?
None of the above?

Of the ones you listed? USCe is the only one.

If our barometer is in conference success, then national SOS doesn't actually matter. If we're judging Smart based on whether he can win the East, then it's relative to other teams in the SEC. We have the 6th SOS in the SEC...
You were not comparing the SEC only when you said that in your intitial retort. Feed your red herrings to someone else... we have the 20th Ranked SOS nationally... we played the top 3 teams in the confrence twice each... just stop already ...

It's the most iconic venue in the college game. That sort of makes up for it being outdated.

As per usual, you're a fricking buffoon. The entire point of the thread was referring to Kirby and his need to win the east... a justifying thought for this was what is seen as a soft schedule relative to the other teams in the east. Since basketball doesn't work on divisions, that "relativism" would extend to the rest of the SEC. It doesn't need to be stated if it's implied in the conversation. Our schedule is middle of the road with regards to the rest of the conference.

and it's hard to get good players to play in an out-dated and empty arena.
Auburn,Arkansas,UT and SC all have state of the art or 20k+ capacity and what exactly have they accomplished the last 5 years?10 years?OM just opened an 80+ million facility,we'll see if it translates to any type of success.
This is Butler's facility BTW...it was built in the 1920's.

Hinkle Fieldhouse is like Cameron Indoor on a much, much smaller scale. That place is iconic, especially in Indiana.
College basketball in Indiana is like college football in the South.

Sure didn't help Butler much in the 60's,70's or 80's and Cameron only became "iconic" when Coach K started to have big time success there.Bill Foster didn't like the facility at all and jumped ship to SC asap when the job came open.

This. "Iconic" is just another way of saying "shitty, but they win, so who are we to criticize".
