I think we have a better chance of landing all three than missing out on all of them

Agree. That is kind of the point I was making. We could miss on the highly ranked guys and the key DL guys, but there are enough guys we're in on that are high 3s to make this class still respectable. I haven't gotten this into recruiting in a few years. After doing so, I feel a lot confident in this staff to finish strong THIS year and not wait until 2019.

What is it? I just googled crashing roller coaster gif

You designed amusement parks and had to manage the finances and build new rides, concessions, etc. Also if you designed a really good roller coaster you could tell because there would be a bunch of vomit spots in the exit line

It was pretty dope.

that is a kick arse throw back thursday GIF, even if it was unintentional.

I actually came across a screenshot of that the other day on one of my old memory cards.
At least back then these threads were mostly positive.

Tropico was another really good one I used to play a ton. It was kind of like Sim City but you were the dictator of a Caribbean island and designed your economy, determined whether there would be free elections, and tried to appease both the US and Russia and stay in power.
That and Roller Coaster Tycoon took up a lot of the hours of the summer days for 12 year old me

We are going to close on Waddle, ONeal, and Preston.
The fear in Austin and among other former B12 rivals like OU is palpable. Their entire strategy since ESD has been to focus solely on our top recruits in an attempt to weaken the impact of the Jimbo hire. It is somethjng they have discussed specifically as a strategy, not just to secure good players. It has put us on defense, as we have 15-20 recruits we are working on while Texas has a couple. The problem with their strategy is that Jimbo and Co are shutdown recruiters and will not go quietly. The last few weeks hasn't don't much for me but reaffirm that we have an elite recruiting staff that is going to get results. They may or may not close on everyone this year, but I'm hearing positive things are in motion with several. Brewster has been a big impact so far in state, and Craig has been a big impact out of state in SEC territory for us.

So the teams we recruit against are targeting our top players in an effort to sign them, which not only helps them but weakens us too? Sounds like it's working out pretty well for them. Too bad we can't do the same.

We aren't in a position that do that with multiple open scholarships thanks to ESD.
But who says what these other teams, namely Texas, are doing is working? The perception/optics is one thing, but it is very possible the results on NSD say something else.

I feel like getting 2 of Preston Waddle and O Neal is a victory at this point. But what you said is why I am not overly concerned about this cycle. We stretched so much more thin than everyone else because of the ESD

It would be a victory but not for Jimbo. He wants them all. I know for a fact he's pretty fired up about the nonsense going on right now and is looking for an opportunity to make a statement to Mensa across the street, whether it's this class or next.

Looking at the 2019 class, it looks like we are in really good shape with essentially all of the top recruits in Texas. 2019 could well be one for the books

Yea 2019 might be the best class we've ever had
