Pretty much every team that has won a title in recent years except for us had a dual threat QB. Cardale Jones at Ohio State. Newton. Tebow. Winston wasn't one, but almost all of the others were. We've won half the titles over that span. We haven't had great QBs (I even argue that AJ wasn't one... he was really good, but not great, IMO... if he were, with all of that other talent on the field with him, how did we ever lose a game?), but have generally been so much better than everybody else at the other positions (and solid and relatively mistake-free at QB) that it didn't matter. It's getting tougher and tougher to do that without a top QB. It just happens to be more difficult to find an ELITE passing QB (that isn't a dual threat) than a dual threat (that's a great runner and sufficient passer). IMO, if we take a pocket passer over a dual threat guy, the pocket passer had better be a MUCH better passer than the dual threat guy. If it's close and all other things are about equal (intangibles, off the field stuff, ability to learn and be coached), I prefer to take the dual threat guy every time.

With the CB predictions rolling in for Trey Dean, I added him in the class calculator. It's good for a jump to #36.

A great average points per player. Just low on numbers.

USC - Matt Leinart
Texas - Vince Young
Florida - Leak
LSU - Matt Flynn
FLorida - Tebow
Bama - McElroy
AU - Cam
Bama - McCarron
Bama - McCarron
FSU - Winston
OSU - Jones
Bama - Coker
Clemson - Watson

of the 9 non-Bama championships, 5 won by what you could call Dual Threat QBs and 4 won by more traditional QBs (and I think of Jones as more traditional than Dual Threat, but counted him as DT since you did).

I think it is really more about the team around the QB than it is in the QB in all the above except Cam and VY.
