Maybe he wants to play? I can't fault anyone for taking an offer to a place where they have a chance to see the field. Everyone knows that the odds of a walk-on seeing legitimate playing time at a school like Alabama, especially at QB, where only one sees the field, are incredibly small.

And that's certainly an option, smaller schools definitely have better situations for playing time.

Alternatively, walk ons have turned into starters at major schools more than you think. Bama just had 2 former walkons start on defense for their National Title team and another just won the Heisman.

If you're good, you'll shine anywhere. To quote the man himself,

QB is a different animal. Yes, Mayfield is the exception.

TiderInsider basically saying that they wouldn't be shocked either way in regards to us taking a QB in this class. Numbers are tight. Justyn Ross's visit is going great. They feel good about him. Surtain is definitely trending to Bama at this time. Confidence is growing by the day. Quay Walker is having a great visit. It's looking like things may be trending back in Bamas favor, but UGA is still working hard to flip him. This will go down to the wire. TI feels good about Waddle. Tyson Campbell likely to stick with UGA. JJ Peterson likely sticking with the Vols. We lead for Langham and expect him in this class.

Alabama offers new 2018 prospect on Sunday night (embedded highlights video)

quote:

Nobody has had quite the month of January like  Taiyon Palmer. The four-star cornerback from Lawrenceville (Ga.) Archer has added almost 10 offers from heavyweights such as Clemson, Notre Dame, and Tennessee.

The one-time Duke commit reported an offer from Alabama on Sunday night.

The 6-foot, 178-pounder is rated the No. 28 cornerback and the No. 276 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.

Stay tuned for more on this offer from BamaOnLine.

I don’t love not taking a QB in this class. While we’re young at the position we’re also very light there (3 scholarship players).

I guess I can see it if they really believe everyone is staying for at least another year (or perhaps even if they don’t know about Jalen feel good about Mac as the only safety net).

I agree that a QB take is needed. Very real possibility that we have two guys transfer out st that spot before next season. Have to get somebody in here.

Thx

TI have any insight on other visitors -- Brown, Jackson, Petit-Frere, Irvin and Foster?

Brown remains solid. Having a great visit. Great position with Petit-Ferre. Jackson arrived Saturday so there hasn't been much to report on him yet. No words yet on Foster or Irvin.

How do you guys feel on Surtain? From what I heard LSU felt real good there. Are you guys still after ITS? I think he is still visiting, but most folks in our side think he is going elsewhere. I don’t know what to think on Quay Walker. I have heard he will be part of our class but Tennessee and Florida both think they have a shot. I think the kid likes process but am having trouble connecting the dots with him.

Are we the only fan base that actually uses the rant recruiting board? Is THE H still in use?

Interesting that most believe we have two spots left for DBs. It is being reported we feel good about Surtain and ITS but yet we have put out late offers for E Smith, J Irvin, and now T Palmer. Maybe I am missing something but would have hoped this weekend would have cleared some of it up because next week we have ITS and E Smith coming and I think if we do not push hard for E Smith next weekend he ends up at UT. We are going to go into NSD we no new DBs committed and our hopes riding on the top 2 hoping the other 3 stay in a holding pattern.

We may feel good but not great, but thats how recruiting goes. You have to have back-ups

What it tells me is these so called insiders feel better then the staff or maybe we have more spots available then we know.
