If we had to choose, give me Crouch. Saw Sanders play earlier this year, unimpressed. Straight ahead runner with no wiggle, Noah Cain on his IMG looked much better.

Florida has picked up 5 CBs for Emory Jones today.

Holy crap. I didn't know they were even in it for Emory. So is it safe to say Emory isn't coming here?

I really wanted Emory. Just in case Tua were to transfer. He would be a beast in a couple years

...James Foster, who was one of the 24 finalists at the Elite 11 camp in the summer and has been the starter for the Lanier Poets (man, they really need a new mascot badly) since his freshman year, definitely out-plays his three-star composite ranking, and picked up offers from the likes of Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi State in recent weeks.
While listed as a dual-threat quarterback, he does a great job of staying in the pocket to make the throw instead of always evading at the first sign of it collapsing. A lot of quarterbacks that have even decent speed have the propensity to tuck it and run at the first sign of trouble. I think that shows some of his maturity and experience that has come from being a three-year starter. When he does uncork a pass, he has solid arm strength and a quick release.
The one throw that I appreciate the most in the above video that shows he is more than just a thrower is at the 2:40 mark. He throws it a bit behind his receiver not because it’s a bad throw but he noticed the lurking safety that would’ve made a play had he led his receiver. Any highly-ranked quarterback can sling the deep ball, but showing the wherewithal to see things like that is what can separate great from good...

Emory has looked for a reason to decommit from OSU for a while it seems. Guy seems like a great talent but to be committed for 18 months then go to UF when you didn’t visit Mullen at Miss ST seems odd

It makes sense to me that Emory would be pretty interested in being coached by Mullen at UF, but not at MSU. Mullen was a risk to leave MSU for a better gig, and he did. UF is a big time program with better talent and a better opportunity to start right away there vs MSU.

That's the one thing I love about Fosters film. He hangs in the pocket forever. A lot of throws are with guys hanging on him or with pressure.

The Florida Offensive Line Coach is heading to Missouri.
That might help us with Nicholas Petit-Frere.

Recruiting question of the day: Who is Alabama targeting to replace Da’Ron Payne? | SEC Country
quote:
Da’Ron Payne, Alabama’s run-stuffing defensive tackle, could decide to declare for the NFL draft after the season. He’s projected by several draft experts to be taken in the first round. That doesn’t necessarily mean he’s going to leave Alabama. But, more likely than not, when a player is projected to be taken in the first round, that player bolts for the millions of dollars that await him.
The Crimson Tide currently don’t have a nose tackle commitment. Alabama has shown interest in Florida State defensive tackle commit Robert Cooper. The Seminoles lost Jimbo Fisher to Texas A&M and replaced him with former Oregon coach Willie Taggart. Cooper was visited by the FSU coaching staff earlier this week and reassured ‘Noles fans by saying he’s 1,000 percent committed. It doesn’t seem likely that Cooper is going to change his mind.
At points, Alabama has been interested in in-state defensive tackle Jalen Cunningham. Cunningham wants to commit to the Crimson Tide, but I don’t think he’s going to get the green light to choose Alabama. Look for him to choose Ole Miss in the near future.
The Tide also were interested in 3-star defensive tackle Jeffery Johnson, who committed to Tulane earlier this month. Alabama had stopped recruiting him.
The likeliest option to fill this nose tackle role is Billy “BJ” Ferrell from Fordyce, Ark. Look how massive this guy is:

Ferrell is listed at 6-foot-3 and 331 pounds. He was offered by Alabama last week and has turned into a priority for the staff. The Tide are working hard to get him on campus. He’s expected to visit next month.

Alabama hires UTSA's Pete Golding as assistant coach | al.com
quote:
Alabama has hired Texas-San Antonio defensive coordinator Pete Golding as an assistant coach, coach Nick Saban announced Friday night.
Golding will fill the 10th assistant spot that will be available to the Crimson Tide and other schools beginning January 9, Saban said. Golding can't be activated as an on-field coach until January 9, the day after the national title game.
Saban didn't say what Golding's role will be aside from saying that Golding will work on the defensive side of the ball.
"We'll address the other staff issues when we get finished playing," Saban said. "I don't have time right now to do a search, get ready for this game, recruit, have an early signing date and try to hire coaches, too. There's not enough time in the day."
Led by Golding, UTSA is ranked in the top-10 nationally in both total defense and scoring defense.

Paul Tyson, Bear Bryant’s great-grandson, gets offered by Alabama | SEC Country

Bear Bryant’s legacy at Alabama could continue in the form of his great-grandson.
Paul Tyson, a 2019 4-star quarterback from Hewitt-Trussville High School (Trussville, Ala.), added an offer from the Crimson Tide on Friday night.
Tyson had a tremendous season for the Huskies. Tyson completed over 70 percent of his passes and threw for 3,392 yards, 36 touchdowns to just four interceptions.
Before he was offered, SEC Country did a deep dive into Tyson’s life as Bear Bryant’s great-grandson.
“It really is an honor just knowing that I can be a part of that because of who my great-grandfather is,” Paul said. “Walking down the halls where the coaches’ offices are means a lot to me because my great-grandfather coached there. I love that because it pushes me, even more, to work harder. I want my name to be as big and next to my great-grandfather’s somewhere. I want to be like him one day.”
Almost everyone in Tyson’s family has attended Alabama. But, Paul has said before that even if he was to get offered by the Tide, it wouldn’t mean that he would automatically commit to Alabama.
“I want to go wherever is the best place for me where I can help that team win a national championship,” Paul said. “If Alabama was it, then that would be the school. It’s definitely not 100 percent the school I would go to automatically. People might think that, but I would keep my options open.”
