SPALDING, Ga. — After a freshman year that created some buzz due to his size, athleticism and playmaking ability at that age, Zion Puckett went down with an ankle injury in game two in 2016 as a sophomore.
He missed the remainder of the season, but he is back and he is back in a big way. Schools have been out to evaluate the 6-foot-1, 195 pound athlete out of Spalding (Ga.) and his recruitment is heating up.
Over the last few weeks, he has picked up his first five offers.
"Wake Forest, Alabama, Florida State, Kentucky and Tennessee have all offered me this spring," said Puckett. "It has really happened quick. It has been pretty exciting."
The first school to offer Puckett was Tennessee. The star athlete was in Knoxville (Tenn.) late in April for the Volunteer's spring game and he left with an offer.
"I liked it up there. I like their facilities, I like the indoor field and I had a good time. The atmosphere was good, it was a fun environment and they really welcomed me.
"I do have some interest in them. They were first to offer me, I had a good time on my visit and it is a school I will get back to."
With the injury last year, Puckett has not visited many college campuses yet, so he does not know much about the schools that have offered outside of Tennessee other than what he has seen on T.V.
The only other school the 2019 athlete has visited is Georgia and that took place during his freshman year.
"I am hearing from Georgia, they are showing interest, but they have not offered me yet. Coach [Tray] Scott (defensive line) came through last week and I know he is looking at me.
"I would like to have an offer from them. I like their offense, they have some good players and I may camp there this summer."
Puckett has a lot of schools in mind for summer visits. Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida and Georgia are some on his list. He is ready to venture out, showcase his ability and start to evaluate schools.
For the next couple of weeks though, he will focus on school, spring practice and keep enjoying the infant stages of being a top recruit.
"I am just going to stay humble throughout the process," said Puckett. "I am just going to keep working. I had a feeling offers would come, but these came fast and it has been a little surprising. It is something I have been working for."
Schools are offering Puckett as an athlete. He could project as a wide receiver or safety on the next level.

Rivals100 OL Cardell Thomas still strong with LSU, but other visits coming
The Latest: As one of the nation's top prospects in the Class of 2019, it's not surprising to see other programs recruiting Rivals100 offensive lineman Kardell Thomas, despite his commitment to LSU. So do the Tigers have anything to worry about? Rivals.com caught up with Thomas to talk about his commitment and some of the programs trying to make a run to get him to reconsider his decision.
In His Words: "My commitment to LSU is still strong. I'm looking into a lot of other colleges but things with LSU is still very strong. There's never a time where they don't treat me like I'm their No. 1 guy."
On his loyalty to the Tigers: "It means a lot that they were my first offer. They started recruiting me in the eighth grade and I showed them even though I'm young I can compete. The next year I came back and they offered me and took my commitment. It's big because me being so young they had to see something in me. I was 15 at the time and they knew that I would be a guy they want to play for them."
Thoughts on LSU's spring game: "I liked what I got to see from the offense. There was the thunder storm and that kind of cut things short but it was nice. I liked it. They told me no matter what they do with the offense they will still be running behind me."
On Florida: "The Florida offer just came into today and that kind of caught my eye. The offensive line coach, he coached at my school and he was a teacher there and him being at Florida, it’s culture, he’s in the family. We kind of have a connection and I look forward to getting to know him better. I know Florida is a nice school and they win a lot of games so that caught my attention."
On future visits: "I'm going to Texas, I'm going to camp at Alabama and I plan on going to Florida, Auburn, Georgia and Miami this summer."
Rivals Reaction: It's hard to imagine Thomas ending up at anywhere but LSU, but the fact that he will be taking visits this summer at least gives schools a chance to show him what they can offer. But a player of his abilities rarely gets out of LSU's backyard and the fact that he's already committed only compounds the chances of him playing his college ball in Baton Rouge.

Non-Alabama related, but I found this on the Tiger Rant this morning about a QB from Louisiana:
This has got them all riled up over there.![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconrotflmao.gif)

Justin Rogers (No. 9 on our list of Top LA Prospects) was the topic of discussion among many Tiger fans yesterday because of a comment he made in a recent interview. “I wouldn't say I’m in LSU country anymore,” Rogers told Rivals.com’s Woody Wommack. “LSU is on bad terms with people around here. Brandon Harris was their baby. There are some LSU fans here and either they were mad about Brandon's situation or they were all for Les Miles. It's not really LSU country around here anymore.”
This has got them all riled up over there.

Jacksonville State signee Charles Crawford calls his former Vigor teammate, Desmond Little, "a freak of nature."
Little, a rising junior for the Wolves, is 6-foot-6, 210 pounds and runs the 100 in 11.1 seconds.
The defensive end received his first college offer last month and it was a big one: Alabama.
"It's an offer and evaluate," Vigor head coach Deric Scott said. "So they are still evaluating him, but it's a firm offer."
Little played sparingly for Vigor a year ago. In fact, Scott said the two parted ways briefly, but that has led to a renewed commitment on Little's part.
"He didn't play as much as he probably thought he should," Scott said. "We had to have a come to Jesus meeting. He felt like he should be started, and I told him he needed more time. We basically parted ways for a little while, but he's come back with a renewed energy and a renewed focus and done everything we've asked him to do."
Both Deric Scott and defensive coordinator Eric Scott said Little's potential is "unlimited."
"He is just starting to understand just what type of player he can become and what type of potential he has," Eric Scott said. "The sky is the limit for this guy."
Deric Scott said other schools have asked about Little, but Alabama is the only one to make an offer of any kind at this point.
"The other offers will come," Deric Scott said. "I think he will get a lot of interest this summer. Desmond is still learning every day. He's out there getting better in every practice with every rep."

I didn't realize Allen was already that big either. Let him be an understudy of Terrell and maybe get him on in some mop up duty ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconPimp.gif)

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — Jarren Williams, one of the nation’s most coveted quarterbacks, likely will play college football in the Southeastern Conference in 2018.
Williams, an Elite 11 finalist from Central Gwinnett High School, is strongly considering offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky and LSU. The nation’s No. 16 dual-threat quarterback, per the 247Sports composite rankings, considers the Wildcats his No. 1 team at the moment.
The 6-foot-2, 206-pound prospect will make his college commitment in the coming weeks.
SEC Country was in attendance for Williams’ spring game, where Central Gwinnett defeated Discovery 34-0. Check out the highlights in the video above.

Paul Tyson threw for 263 yards and three touchdowns in Hewitt-Trussville’s 45-26 spring game win over Cordova (Tenn.) at Jacksonville State on Saturday.
It was the 6-foot-4 Tyson’s first extensive varsity action. The great-grandson of Paul Bryant now has offers from Jacksonville State, Kentucky, Connecticut and Army.
Tyson completed 15-of-21 passes. He threw a 10-yard touchdown to sophomore Malachi Moore on the first drive and hit sophomore Dazalin Worsham with strikes of 60 and 51 yards.
“I was really pleased with Paul,” Hewitt-Trussville coach Josh Floyd said. “I thought he made some big-time throws and moved in the pocket well. We put a lot in this spring. The great thing about where we’re at as a program is that our guys are learning as a young age.”
That was evident by the performance of Worsham, who had four receptions for 130 yards.
“I thought we saw some bright spots with different players,” Floyd said. “We had some different weapons, and that was good to see.”
Coaches from Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Mississippi State, UAB, Florida Atlantic, Arkansas State and more were on hand to see the game and scout prospects.
Cordova features offensive tackle Jerome Carvin, an SEC offensive line recruit with Alabama and Auburn offers. Running back Jeremy Banks broke off two long touchdown runs for Cordova. He has offers from UAB, Virginia Tech and others.
Huskies offensive tackle Pierce Quick has already committed to Alabama.
Hewitt-Trussville did have two big offensive plays called back, including a long touchdown from Tyson to Logan Pitts.
“It kind of looked like we did all spring, which was a little bit inconsistent but showed some big plays at times,” Floyd said.

Larry McCammon ran for two touchdowns of 60-plus yards in the third quarter of Hoover’s 34-23 spring game win over Park Crossing at Jacksonville State on Saturday.
The junior put the Bucs up 21-10 early in the third quarter and answered the Thunderbirds’ Uziah McDaniel’s 48-yard touchdown with another long score to give Hoover a 28-16 lead.
Park Crossing’s Cam Taylor threw a 37-yard touchdown pass on an athletic play late in the third quarter to Doron Mitchell to cut the Thunderbirds’ deficit to 28-23.
Backups played in the fourth quarter with a running clock. Hoover 14-year-old sophomore quarterback Robby Ashford, who already has offers from MIssouri and Illinois, scored on a 20-yard run, the final 10 coming after his left shoe came off.
Taylor, who is coming off an ACL tear from last season, hit Mitchell with a 14-yard touchdown pass early in the first quarter to give Park Crossing a 10-0 lead.
Jalen Parker threw a 45-yard touchdown pass to Shedrick Jackson and Hoover took a 14-10 halftime lead after Vonte Brackett’s 5-yard touchdown run.
