Returning 4 starters from a defense that was not very good. Its a rebuild job, but there is some talent. State went 6-7 and lost three games on the final play of the game and another by a FG. The schedule is more favorable next year - 8 wins should be the floor.
Might want to reign in those expectations. Grantham asks a lot out of his guys schematically. If you don't have experienced guys, there are going to be substantial growing pains.
An underrated part of his Louisville situation was that not only did he inherit a successful and experienced defense, but he also got to add two DBs that left Georgia and had a couple years of experience in his scheme. Harvey-Clemons was especially important.

Being reported that it's a done deal.
I respect what UGA fans have to say about him since I am from that area and have a lot friends who are alumni, but I can't help but be somewhat excited about this.
Any improvement over the defensive product that was on the field this year is welcomed.

Prediction on game in Athens next year. Nick Fitzgerald runs all the way to Savannah and Leo Lewis sends Eason into another universe. Just kidding, I don't even know if we've ever won at Georgia. Hope it's competitive, we'll see.

If you go by defenders that got playing time in our bowl game I think we return 16 or so.

You have better all time winning percentages than Kentucky and Vandy.
Yes, you're a bottom feeder.

Historically? Sure.
Recently? When is the last time Georgia was ranked #1?

We got size up front with Jeffrey Simmons, Cory Thomas returning, and Lee Autry and Deion Pope coming in. Edge rushers are Marquiss Spencer, Fletcher Adams, Gerri Green, with Montez Sweat, and Chauncey Rivers coming in.

Looks like you can't predict any better than hurts can pass

Wow, this just got a lot weirder. Being reported that Peter Sirmon is going to be the Louisville DC. We basically just traded DC's with Louisville. I'll take that as a win for MSU.

Clarion Ledger is reporting Grantham will be named. Good hire for State.
They're reporting it here as well in Louisville.
Nobody tolerates working with Petrino for long.

CTG has a good defensive mind but thats about it. He also is not the best recruiter. Our talent dropped significantly during his tenure. Think Louisville would tell you the same. I dont really follow yall very close so dont know if hes an upgrade. Hope it works out for you. If his pattern is consistent you will love him year one (assuming you have some talent on D) and be ready to dump him year 3.

Beginning of 2008, so not really that long ago.
I know, MSU has been ranked there more recently than any SEC team not named Alabama.

Eh seems like Todd is going backwards in his career.
Started out at UGA, now he's at MSU.
That should tell you guys all you need to know.
With all that being said though it might be an upgrade for MSU. But just be prepared for teams to convert 3rd and 15s on a pretty regular basis.

Getting them to 3rd and 15 is an upgrade for us.

You've finished ranked in the AP 3 times in the last 16 years. You're historically and recently a bottom feeder.

We saw this all year. Would be nothing new.

A lot of rumors floating around that a deal is in the works. Would be a good hire for State IMO.
Never been a big fan of Grantham. Dude is a hot-head. He and Muschamp should work together though.
