So if next year lsu loses both its starting and back up quarterback for 1 week each which is the specifically the Florida game, and someone calls in a Bomb threat For the game then lsu can cancel.

But, another point is the liability, which is very real. Let's say they move it to Atlanta, BR, etc., during a coastal evacuation order. Some idiot drives in a ditch and dies wearing a Gator tshirt. His family sues the school and the state that he was rushing to get to LA to see the Gator game. Somebody has a heart attack laying on their couch. They are going to attribute it to the stress from the storm (even though he was eating 5 lbs of cheetohs every day) and he just so happen to be wearing a Gator or LSU shirt so the schools are responsible.
You are obviously not an attorney! You probably get your legal knowledge from Seinfeld episodes.

You missed my point completely - OP said "The SEC is not plotting against LSU". I can assure you that this is a case of "All teams are equal, but some teams are more equal than others". Point being the SEC office would never allow the same situation if a certain other team was involved.
For the record, I think this is by far the best option at this point and most LSU fans would rather play the game that weekend than not play at all or lose a home game in November.

Perhaps you are correct, if you are referring to Alabama the league certainly has a financial dog in the race. You're giving a lot of people a lot of credit though.
BUT more likely.. The incompetence of an inexperienced commissioner allowing the decision to be delayed is to be blamed. The course was likely set by Foley with leverage before the SEC even knew there was a game being played. By that point they were along for the ride. The other option is to look insensitive on Thursday, which would be a PR nightmare.

Then why did Foley go all week with his arms crossed saying Saturday at noon or nothing --until he let the clock run out yesterday? The man REFUSED to consider other options.
There were no other options but to play on Saturday in Gainesville. I'm not sure why he dragged it out, maybe politics or maybe he was trying to figure out if the game really could be played on Saturday. Then maybe when he saw that millions of people were being evacuated that if the game was played on Saturday it would be to an empty house... i.e., lost revenue.
If I'm Foley, I would have cancelled earlier. Who plays a game during a hurricane? That's nonsense. Like I said, it's a lose, lose. If you play, you lose revenue from people leaving the area and you look like an insensitive fukk for playing a meaningless game while your fanbase are hunkering down, without power, water, etc.

Think this one is simple, he was waiting to be absolutely sure the game could not be played Saturday in Gainesville. The very best option was the original plan for all involved including Florida.

Reasonable.
Florida has no desire to play the game. It benefits them greatly to skip it.

The first option is obvious, the second would transfer a financial loss from Florida to LSU, the third means the other options fell through and is no further detriment to Florida(possibly an advantage).
Your post is spot on, but I think you give too little weight to that last part.

Obviously you guys are not lawyers...
Weatherman can and have been sued for weather reports. Go figure.
LINK
Here's a case where UT was sued and lost for not cancelling school due to inclement weather. I can also show you cases where schools were sued because they cancelled school. You can't win for losing in this sue happy culture.
LINK
Here's an ad from a law firm looking for people make claims during weather events. Do you think this firm would be chomping at the bit at a school trying to have people drive through inclement weather during a damn hurricane???
LINK
Like it or not, you'd have to be an idiot school to schedule and keep a game during an anticipated hurricane.

Last I checked Jeremy Foley's obligation is to the University of Florida. In the world of business he just made an A+ move. LSU, UT, and other oddballs are literally the only ones who think this, perspective.
Yeah sure, in the eyes of Florida they are the winners obviously. It's a win win for them. They most likely avoid a loss.
But the fact t of the matter is it's a chicken shite way of copping out. No other team has done it.
You call it a "great business move", i call it a chicken shite way of doing business.
Remember these teams have long term businesa relationships.

Frankly, I think Seinfeld wrote it. Read it in his voice.

Lawsuits for accidents that occur during snow and ice conditions are also not necessarily precluded by sovereign immunity. In those situations, whether a governmental entity could be sued successfully would depend on many questions, such as the following:
Were the weather conditions anticipated?
What level of priority was the route on which the accident occurred?
Was the agency aware, or should it have been aware, of the condition of the route?
Did the agency apply the proper treatment given the nature of the precipitation and other weather conditions?
A university would open themselves up to a shite storm of possible litigation telling people to come into an area that has been designated an evacuation area.
Why do you think the airports are all closed? Are you really going to be able to fight a lawsuit if a plane crashed during a hurricane? That's nonsense.

Hey, Genius -
1. UF didn't 'negotiate' anything. They had the home game and simply used that leverage which was available to no other party in a duplicitous, self-serving strategy.
