225-90-16 70.4% (same criteria as above)
Combined record against the newbies (Arky, USC, Mizzou, A&M):
41-15-2 72.4% (same criteria as above)
For comparison -

And if UGA had chubb and Florida had del Rio they would be 0fer against the east this year, too.
Lmao Luke Del Rio is more important than Cam Sutton, Darrin Kirkland Jr and Jalen Reeves-Maybin combined guise

I just want to point out that Bama has won at an 81% clip and no one else is at or above 50%....pretty damn impressive

That rep is built on ducking the other members of the Big 6 more than any other of the Big 6 teams except LSU. Even then, UT has an 11 game lead on LSU, 1 game lead on UGA, and has losing records to Alabama, Auburn, and Florida.
Auburn has played the most games against the rest of the Big 6 followed by Bama at #2.
The Big 6 has not always been the same "Big 6". Historically, Florida was not the powerhouse brand it is today. Florida didn't hit "Big 6" until the late 90s, early 2000s and cemented there with the Urban run.
Go back far enough, and Vandy is "Big 6". It's a fluid group, not a static one. Yeah, Alabama has been there for almost the entire time, but not always #1.
To measure, however:
98 games vs Alabama
52 games vs Auburn
46 games vs Florida
46 games vs UGA
32 games vs LSU
Well... maybe you have a point, though considering how weird scheduling used to be I'm not sure "ducking" is the best term.
65 games against Ole Miss, probably the next closest to "Big 6" historically.
Your post had me curious about Neyland's run. Interesting tidbit on just how good a coach he was:
Alabama's overall record during Neyland's first two stints (1926-1934, 1936-1940) was 88-10-3. Tennessee's record against us was 7-4-1. That means that Alabama was a whopping 84-3-2 against everyone else. (We were still "good" during his last stint, but nowhere near the mark listed above). Oh, to be fair - Alabama was the team that beat him the most during those years.
Dang, Neyland was good. Makes me wish he could have gone against Bryant during his time at Alabama. That would have been epic.

quote:Yep. UT is 13-1-2 against LSU pre 1970
As previously noted: Since 1970, around the time SEC teams were integrated, UT is 5th in the SEC in winning pct and 6th in number of conference titles.
UT's "history" of being #2 in the conference was from the whitebread years way back in the 1920s and 1930s.
They are 7-8-1 post 1970. They did dominate in the 30s and 40s

Man, I'm a Bama fan, but your math is WAY off.
Our winning % is 59.917%
Still 10 points higher than everyone else, but still. Nowhere near 80+.

I would also like to point out that 31% of our big 6 games are against Bama. So naturally, that drops our percentage

They have losing records to 4 other SEC teams, even LSU isn't that bad.

One of the things I like to point out is that when the players were pretty much real students and residents of the states in which their universities lie, Tennessee totally kicked arse.
LSU and Tennessee are dead even since they started letting the brothers play.
