Used to hate it but am currently taking a class completely devoted to him. We use the text and match it to modern plays on the screen. I've always been in the crowd that said he's overrated but it was really just because I couldn't understand half the stuff he said. Anybody on here love or hate Shakespeare?

The real key is to study the best Shakespeare you can like in say Stratford Canada where you can become fully immersed.

He stole his work. Just like Steinbeck and Led Zeppelin.

He was the rock star of his time. I liked Shakespeare a lot when I was immersed in his works but I've grown away from it now.

I mean, he's only the most important writer in the history of the world.
One only has to read Hamlet to realize how many phrases and sayings he originated or popularized.
All one needs are the collected works of Shakespeare and the King James Bible.

There are some excellent dirty jokes in Shakespeare plays if you know where to look and what they say.
