I don't care how much momentum that catch would have created, Georgia's defense was just too tired to stop Tennessee, if the chips were down.
I wish you didn't bring this up.
That was last year. Can't do anything about it now.

Nope. You have plenty of time before ball is snapped to note where your feet are located. .. If it's says 5 next to your feet, you let it go. Pretty simple.
You're right. You've never played football. You are an armchair, Monday morning quarterback that sits back and criticizes players while knowing nothing about the game. Thanks for all of your valuable insight.

Did you read my post? It wasn't lamenting a lost opportunity. It was giving credit to the way he handled himself.

Even Reggie Davis would tell you that I am right and you are wrong on this. That's why he laid face down on the turf with his hands on his head after doing it against Florida when they scored off his idiocy. He knew what a fundamentally stupid decision he had just made. And his coaches did. And his teammates did. And his family did. And God did too. Everyone but you apparently. Congrats.

one of the big turning points for me with richt. After that (probably the 3rd or 4th awful return decision RD had made that year) we patted him on the butt and said "good job!" as he headed towards the bench. No dog cussing, no arse chewing, no getting in his face telling him why he fricked up. Just "oh well buddy, we'll get em next time".

Why McKenzie wasn't back to return every punt last season when he was healthy was one of the biggest mysteries of last season. It was almost like Richt wanted a rotation just to say he had a rotation when McKenzie was clearly the best return man on the team (and probably the SEC).

Eh, don't want to take up for Jefferson but you don't have to have played the game to know not to field punts inside your ten. That's pretty basic fundamentals.

Kid knows he fricked up. They'll remind him plenty in practice that week and he'll get dressed down in the film room the next day. I'd prefer to keep the kid's head in the game as there's still time on that clock.

No he wouldn't. Wait. Would he say he made a poor decision? yes. Would he also say he made the decision on a split second and he wished ha had done something differently? yes. It's always easy to look back at a bad play and wish you had done something differently. Think about it, Jeff. Had he had time to properly assess the situation, he would have done it differently. It's easier to see stuff on a television screen than it is on the field. I've been there. I've played, and I know this for a fact.
I didn't say he didn't make a poor decision, so don't try putting words in my mouth.
This whole thing started, though, because you made the sarcastic comment about him being humble because of the decision he made. His being humble or not had nothing to do with the decision he made.

I can see this. He probably should have got on them more. Whether it was a lack of focus, poor decision making whatever, it should have been addressed.

I think that was WG, and not you, maybe?

Yes, it is. But it is just too easy for some to sit in an armchair and point out a mistake every time a player makes one without knowing what it is like to be out there. No. He should not have tried to field the kick. But what gets me is how Jeff wanted to try to tie in Davis' being humble with that. What on earth has that got to do with anything?

Just a guess? McKenzie had a reputation (Whether it was earned or not, I don't know) for leaving the ball on the ground from time to time. Our problem was we had two return guys with major flaws. One made poor decisions and the other fumbled. Both were capable of taking a kick for 6, and both were capable of making horrible mistakes.

It doesn't. Just Jeff being bored and this site being his main source of entertainment at the time being.

I know you are right. Sometimes I let him get under my skin instead of just dismissing him. He likes to trip me up with intelligently adding to a conversation from time to time and I start taking him seriously again....then something like this.

Reggie Davis may have dropped that pass, but he didn't lose the game.
He didn't give up 500+ yards on defense. He didn't blow a 24-3 lead. He didn't fumble a kickoff return giving Tennessee momentum.
I'm glad he recognizes his mistakes, but I hope he doesn't blame the loss on himself.

This. Our defense made Dobbs look like Vince Young reincarnated. He's nowhere that good.

Exactly. And we never should have been in that desperate a position anyway. It's not on him.
And good grief at the downvotes on the OP.

Let me see if I have this straight.....
An embarassing misunderstanding of basic football fundamentals 101 by a habitually long-winded rudderless gimp with an avatar of a poodle dressed up in a cowboy outfit...... has turned into an indictment of me?
Okay. Morons. Wow.
