AshLSU - I don't know why I'm just noticing you, but you're pretty funny. Keep up the good work

Best: Undefeated championship season.
Worst: 8-5. If quarterback sucks and the running game doesn't take off then we're in trouble. Heck, could go 7-6 but I doubt it.

If bad things happened and bama actually wasn't bowl eligible would saban be fired? Not trolling, asking a legit question.
And best case for us, offense shows up, Mcilwain takes the ropes and runs with it to an all sec caliber season and we go 9-3
Worst case, defense gets worse without Skai Moore, offense is turnover prone, 1-11.
Realistic: 6-6, 7-5

Best:
Eason comes in and sparks the passing game. Nobody can stop Chubb OR Michel, defense plays just inspired enough to be top 15.
12-2 (lose SEC title game, play in NY6 Bowl)
Worst:
None of the QBs play well and we spend all season cycling through them. Defense sucks, Chubb gets hurt again, get blown out by Tennessee, Florida and lose to a mediocre Auburn team to name a few.
6-7 (lose a crappy bowl game)

So, in your WORST case scenario, you still beat Auburn. Gump on brah
At home? Yes.
We haven't lost to an unranked team since 2007. I'm pretty sure that Auburn will be unranked. So, even in the worst case scenario, we still beat Auburn. Yes. If we were playing at Auburn probably would be different.
Obviously Auburn could have one of those out of nowhere seasons AND we could have our worst season since 2007, leading to a loss. I think the odds of both of those things lining up would fall outside of the "reasonable" parameters I put in my OP.

8/9 win season vs Nebraska in the music City Bowl
Worst
6 win season and another trip to legion field where we'll get skull fricked by houston

Tennessee
BEST
Dobbs gets passing game going with Preston Williams and Josh Malone taking big steps as WR's. Running game is even more productive and we have best offense in decades. Shoop hire proves crucial and we force more turnovers and sacks and get game winning stops last years D couldn't.
15-0 (8-0), SEC Champs, CFP, National Champs
WORST
Dobbs gets injured. Back up QBs are not ready and offense sputters. Defense keeps TN in games but we lose 5 heartbreakers to VT, UF, UGA, A&M and Bama.
7-5 (4-4) Music City Bowl

And 1-3 since Saban showed up, with the 1 being an incredible come from behind win by their undefeated national championship team and the current NFL MVP against the worst Saban team since 2007.
The other 3 Alabama has won by 36, 49 and 11 (an average of 32 pts).
So, forgive me if I don't think the games of 1895, 1901 and the DuBose/Fran/Shula era will have much bearing on 2016.

Forgive me if I don't think that two of those games you mentioned were against two terrible Auburn teams. The other game that Alabama did win against a non-hopeless team (well, the defense was hopeless), Malzahn's offense put up almost 700 yards of offense.

Malzahn put up 700 yards of offense and was down by 3 TDs with 20 seconds left.
I guess my point is, this Auburn team could end up being really good, but 90% of people think they'll be between 7-5/9-3.
We are 54-4 at home since 2008.
Here are our home losses since 2008 with final rankings of opponent
2010 - #1 Auburn (14-0)
2011 - #2 LSU (13-1)
2012 - #6 Texas A&M (11-2)
2015 - #10 Ole Miss (10-3)
So, again, unless Auburn surprises and has a Top 10 type season, I seriously doubt we will lose at home to them. I feel pretty confident in that, and feel like recent history is on my side there.
If the game was at Auburn I'd totally concede it as a possible loss.
