What good is a best back if you cant get on the field?

When you can't refute the ability backed by stats, just blabber on about bad luck with injuries or suspensions.

quote:Oh he's not the best back of last year but he led the country in yards and rushing TD's and won the Heisman. I know some of you guys hate Bama and everything about it, but can we atleast be objective when we have threads like this...
He wasn't included because he was not one of the 5 best backs in SEC history.
He wasn't even the best back in the SEC last year...

can't tell if you are acknowledging how such an offense helped bo, or if you are saying it hurt bo.
I'm saying that Bo didn't get as many carries as he could have because of the nature of the offense and Auburn didn't need Bo to carry them like say Georgia with Herschel.
For example, taking away Bo's junior season when he was injured Bo averaged 187 carries a year
Hershel averaged 331 carries per year.
Emmitt averaged 233 carries
McFadden averaged 261 carries
Fournette is averaging 243 already
Bo was easily the most effective of the RBs mentioned with the ball in his hand. The point was if he had been Auburn's entire offense like Herschel was with UGA his numbers would have been off the charts, probably close to Barry Sanders Heisman season good.
Quality >> Quantity

I totally disagree with this idea. Bo was helped With that many nfl rbs on the field at the same time. That enabled him to attain more ypc. Put him in an I by himself, and his ypc goes down.

would think Henry accomplished more than fournette if you want to look at this objectively

He wasn't...if you put Henry running for LSU, he wouldn't break 1500 yds.
Put LF7 in a Bama uniform and he breaks NCAA records.
Don't fool yourself, Henry is exceptional but not the same caliber as the runners listed in the OP.

The best backs in SEC history are Herschel and bo. Screw stats, etc.
These guys were in a class where only those two belong. Don't give me McFadden, Henry, faulk, etc. They couldn't carry Herschels jock.

These stats make me feel good about A&M's best all time back (@ A&M)
Lewis - 5,012 rushing yards, 44 TDs, 25 catches, 126 rec yards, 1 TD.

Alabama's OL wasn't even that good last year. At least not when you compare them to the lines of previous Saban-led championship teams.

Sorry Tony but I gotta call BS. Lets do take stats out the equation look at the competition that Henry and Fournette has to go against now compared to Bo and Herschel. You have D lineman and Ends over 300 pounds running 4.5s and 4.6s. Im not saying Bo and Herschel arent great but to just dispel what the new generation is doing just because of what the old generation did isnt fair. I fully believe regardless of which team Henry is on whether its Auburn, LSU, Ohio State, etc, he can break over 1100 yards. His talent is just too good to be contained.

There has to be a solid 3 in DMac. Then it's everyone else.
