That and Mizzou is a pretend SEC team.

I included A&M because they have an AP #1 finish. They were the only non-Big 6 school to have an AP #1 finish.

That is embarrassing as a resident of Louisiana.

If Alabama consistently brings in the no 1 class why do t they have back to back to back championships and why do they lose games at all. They are the most talented team in the country.

IDK, man... To put the numbers in the OP into perspective... Bama has had five AP Top 5 finishes since 2009.
That's only 4 fewer and 2 fewer than LSU and Auburn have had in their entire history, respectively.
Ouch.

Unless you're 3 years old, there's absolutely no viable excuse for this (badly typed) question.

No on argues that Alabama isnt the best CFB program in the SEC.

man you've always sucked as a poster but it's worse than ever in the last month.
You might want to get a CAT scan or something.

Yeah, that's not true.

Neither is that. I wasn't even around for the 2 previous months. Didn't resume posting until a little over a week ago.

These numbers are not even correct.... you even shorted Bama one.
Here are the correct #'s:
23- Alabama
13- Tennessee
11- Florida
10- Georgia
9- LSU
9- Auburn
--------------
4- Ole Miss
4- Arkansas
3- Texas A&M
3- Missouri
1- South Carolina

You're right. I'd hate to be Auburn. The most sanctioned athletic department in the SEC and can't even muster up more than 7 AP top 5 finishes.

Your numbers were incorrect. Auburn has nine (1957, 1958, 1963, 1972, 1983, 1993, 2004, 2010, 2013). So you shorted them 2.
You shorted Bama one. They have 23, not 22.
You gave Tennessee one extra.

Well darn. I guess it will be okay. I'll fix the OP for you.

do you think that has more to do with Saban doing something that is literally unprecedented in college football, or LSU and Auburn?
wait, no. I think I know your response.
also, why 80 years? is there something significant that happened in college football in 1936 that the rest of us are not aware of? why not 20 years, or 40 years, or 60 years?

The AP first started ranking 20+ teams and awarding a National Champion in 1936.

Using the correct numbers, Bama has 10 more than the next closest. That's quite a gap.
However, often the comparison of Alabama football and Kentucky basketball comes up. These numbers prove that while very impressive, Alabama football is far "less dominant" in the SEC compared to Kentucky basketball. Alabama football owns 25.6% of the all the Top 5 finishes of the SEC (23 out of 90 total).
Meanwhile, Kentucky basketball owns 29 Top 5 finishes (since only 1949). The rest of the league combines for just 18.
Top 5 finishes in College Basketball:
29- Kentucky
4- Arkansas
3- Missouri
2- Florida
2- Mississippi State
1- Alabama
1- Auburn
1- Tennessee
1- Vanderbilt
So UK claims 61.7% of the league's Top 25 finishes in basketball.
Kentucky Basketball can truly claim "Big 1" status. Quite frankly, no one in the SEC can enter the discussion. As great as Alabama football has been, its not the same. While they are certainly the SEC's #1 program, I don't think the gap is large enough between them and the other solid programs to have their own category. The truth is, history proves that one of the other 13 SEC programs is 3x more likely to finish in the AP Top 5 than Alabama is.
Alabama is by far the best SEC football program, and they are the best of the "Big 6". But there is no "Big 1" status. The gap just isn't big enough to claim that.
