Because of the instability of the program.
Hell, just a few short months ago LSU fans and the like we're calling for Miles to be axed.
Once LSU realized that the program wasn't as attractive as they perceived they had to get down on their knees and blow Miles to get him to stay. Assistants do not want to be associated with a wishy washy fan base and thus why CKS bolted.

Steele gets hired and tRant goes on for months about how horrible he is as a DC, 70 points, etc etc.
Steele gets told to find a different job because LSU is bringing in one of the brightest young defensive coaches in the country to be the DC and tRant goes on about how Steele left on his own accord and what ever will LSU do without him.
