My question is what kind of e-mail was Leath responding to? The original e-mails to which Leath responded have been conveniently not mentioned or posted.
I'm willing to bet that they weren't in the line of "Dear Distinguished President Leath: May I beg to bring to your attention, kind sir, a question of my concern... " kind of e-mails.

Not sure that is a good excuse for a university president responding in that way just because someone hurt his feelings
