Are they a long successful basketball school?

They had a lot of success with Lefty Driesell as their HC. He retired in the late 80's. Len Bias played for him. They haven't had a lot of sustained success since then.

We would likely pay anything to keep pearl. The man is already a legend at Auburn. He has the train rolling. I'd be shocked if he entertained that job

Think Juan Dixon took them to a final four or natty even but you’re correct. The round ball has moved south. The SEC is every bit a basketball conference as any in the country and Atlanta is a top 5 talent hub in the country. Oh and the millions of dollars Bruce gets on top of it with the new arena? Those turtles can go frick themselves

They went to back to back Final Fours in 01 and 02, won the National Championship in 02.

They haven't been a great program since then, but they've still been pretty fricking solid

Since Maryland joined the B1G they made the NCAAT 5/7 seasons. 1 of those 2 being 2020 when the tournament was cancelled, but they were tied for 1st in the B1G so they would've made it

Let's not get it twisted, Maryland is a good basketball program with a lot of potential to be even better. That said, not a chance in hell Pearl leaves Auburn for them. I doubt Maryland will even try to get him tbh, I think this is all just wishful thinking on the part of a handful of Terps fans on Twitter and that got picked up on/ blown out of proportion by shitty sports writers looking for a hot take.
