Nick Smith has been playing really good ball lately. I could see Bruce liking him more than Cruz.

I agree on Smith.
And he is an Ark kid, so I'm sure Flanigan has the right connections. Just not sure they can pull him away from KY or the other top schools on him, incl Ark and Alabama....

Remember too that Bruce is a straight shooter. If he thinks we suck he will say it, and if he says we are good then we are most likely a really good team.

....4-star guard Nick Smith announces new top 8, eliminates pro route
Smith will no longer consider the professional route and has cut the NBL and the Overtime Elite league. Memphis and Arkansas Pine-Bluff have been added as their replacements. Kentucky, Alabama, Auburn, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Kansas round out his list.

To add context, he said something to the effect that we could make it to the final four but finish anywhere from 1-9 in the SEC considering the talent and depth in the league.

This matches up with some second hand information I've heard from someone who has attended a few practices recently. Sounds like there is a lot of confidence around this team from people inside the program.
