It appears Jeff Holland AND Marlon Davidson have jumped Byron Cowart, not because of ability, but because of toughness.
I think the early reports on Davidson are going to be true. He could be a beast

Holland looked to be playing more of a linebacker position then strong side DE... he really stood out, as did Davidson.
I really like this front seven... And it could only get better when TJ Neal and Derrick Brown get on campus.

I cannot figure out why the redzone is kryptonite to Sean White. Too my knowledge, he has at least three turnovers and zero touchdowns in the red zone. He is all SEC between the twenties
I agree with this. While all SEC is a bit of an exaggeration, and Sean White is prone to throw some balls in double coverage, he is easily the most consistent QB we have until he gets in the red zone. We actually look like a respectable offense at times with him, and we are capable of getting a few first downs and moving the ball. But once in the red zone, it's a field goal at best, assuming he doesn't turn it over first.
I wouldn't mind seeing White start and bring in JF3 in the red zone to just run the read option. Might be our best chance to finish off drives.

I'm wondering if the middle-give/middle-give/please-bail-us-out-with-a-pass-that-the-defense-knows-is-coming Lashlee/Malzhan red-zone philosophy might have something to do with that.

It's way too early to call Cowart a bust, but at a certain point its not the players lacking talent, it's the coaches failing to develop. No team is this unlucky this often on 5 stars.

reports from this A-Day remind me a little of 2012 A-Day folks saying we looked pretty good on D. but not so much on O guess we'll see

Was that when we were all in Turks and Kacos?

Is that a new island?

Yep. It's out in the Pirates of the Caribbean Sea.

You have to consider one's upbringing, and how they were taught to deal with adversity. He is somewhat immature in many ways.
Marlon has dealt with it just last year with his Mom's passing. He handled it better than most adults would. Say what you will about Kenneth, but he has been an enormous influence on his brother. They are impressive young men.

Again, none of this should be hung on Sean White per se, red zone play calling has always been miserable under Malzahn. he happened to get two quarterbacks that could make bad calls look much better than they were.
I am tempted to ask malzahn why he has decided to go away from the hurry up offense that uses a lot of pre snap motion when he is in Dothan next month. I really feel like if they get both of those back that the offense would bump up 25% overnight.

Did you watch yesterday?... auburn went hurry-up a ton.

We did it yesterday with Franklin to start. We went 3 & out both times. Gus like uses tempo when he gets a first down. But when we never get them, it hurts the O.

we went hurry up some but we havent run all the motion in several seasons. this crap we have devolved into bares little resemblance to the offense that Gus ran in his early days. the motion isnt there, passing game isnt there, the reads arent there. IDK WTF is going on with the guy but he needs to watch some old film...and then go fire Lashlee.

Sean White 8-14 (57.1), 125 yards, 0 TD
Jeremy Johnson 6-13 (46.1), 35 yards, 1 TD
John Franklin 7-11 (63.6), 61 yards, 1 TD
Interesting that some believe White played the best. I thought they all looked mostly bad. Tough to gauge JF3's value when we're playing 1 hand touch
If the running game can get rolling then we may not need much of a playmaker at QB which probably lends better to SW's game manager skill set
