hardly anyone gets full athletic scholarships for baseball, the scholarship money is divided up amongst players, almost none of the players are getting full rides; however, when you have a large private endowment and extremely high tuition means they can almost fully supplement most players. I would venture to say 0 are not getting some form of aid and most are paying very little if anything at all at vandy
I would say a significant part of their success has to do with Corbin but to deny that their status as the only private institution in the SEC is not an advantage when it comes to financial aid and scholarships is silly

Trust that I am very well educated on scholarship strategies for baseball.
Vanderbilt is rich and can afford the relatively expensive scholarships. Alabama is not rich and cannot afford the relatively inexpensive scholarships. I follow that reason.
Vanderbilt's private status doesn't make academic scholarships for baseball legal. Alabama's public status doesn't make the academic scholarships illegal.
So my point is that if Alabama has the money and the desire to spend that money to win in baseball, then they can offer academic scholarships to baseball players - just like Vanderbilt does.

Alabama isn't Vanderbilt, but they certainly are not poor.

Except the transparency is much, much, much different. Vanderbilt, like most private schools, has general scholarships that have very vague guidelines that they can use for situations like subsidizing baseball players. They don't have to release any information on them which means they don't have to show that 65% of a certain scholarship goes to baseball players and not to other students. Alabama does, so if they are giving "academic scholarships" to guys with 2.8 GPA's and 20 ACT scores solely because they play baseball and aren't giving them to guys with 3.5 GPAs and 25 ACT scores solely because one plays baseball and the other doesn't they are going to be in a WORLD of hurt.
Division-3 schools use the Vanderbilt method more than anyone (because they don't have athletic scholarships). I know, because I got one of those "academic scholarships" my freshman year at one for baseball. They, like Vanderbilt, can give non-federal scholarships to whoever the heck they want because they are a private college. State institutions can't do that without major backlash and repercussions.

Bama scores one run all weekend and wins one game.

I said LSU would win 2/3. But Bama took 2/3 and the series win. Nice job.
Congrats Bama. LSU needs to improve if they want to make any kind of post season run.
Can't wait for football season and I can talk my Bama/LSU trash talk. For now i'll be silent. 5 straight years means I have to shut up.

I called 2/3 for LSU as well, so I was wrong on that.
But, I did say that LSU would lose one because of walks. They lost game 2 because of free passes, mostly errors and HBP, but still.

Not sure you can blame a 6-0 win on LSU errors. Maybe the 2nd game but Alabama did the same thing today with huge costly errors late in the game.

Loved Coaches Gaspard and Norris get into the face of the home plate umpire after the Sunday game. Unsure what they were complaining about as the umpire had an enormous strike zone for the Bama pitchers and also appeared to be in love with the Bama catcher. Never saw a home plate umpire yapping with a catcher the entire game like he was today.
Perhaps Gaspard should think about allowing a .175 hitter bat with runners on 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs in the top of the 9th. Really, parents called their son Georgie?
