Going to NWA is like going to another state. Like Missouri or Kansas. It's not 'Arkansas Folks', it imports from the midwest, Mexico and the Marshall Islands.
Rogers 62%
Bentonville 75%
Springdale 51%
Fayetteville 78% (skewed by the university)
I'm sure you guys can guess what those percentages are.

I second this. They go by 'Little Rock' now though...

The school systems are so screwed up in Little Rock. I guess, this is what the problem is.
John Walker screwed them up by keeping the 'desgregation' (i.e., no more 'community based' schools) lawsuits going as long as he could to pad his nest. Forced busing drove those affluent enough to move to move out of the public schools and county district.
No way of setting up 'feeder programs' for your high schools when you don't know where the kids will be going to school. You can't install your system prior to getting them in high school, and you're not even sure to keep most of the kids for three years.
I thought Scooter Register going to Central would be a litmus test to see if it was possible to restore the LR public schools to prominence. Largely, the answer is no, he hasn't been able to.

Scooter is a good coach...but Reed followed him at El Dorado and has done more with that program than his predecessor ever did.
Now, I think I see the problem and agree with you. So basically, Little Rock doesn't have set school districts within itself then? So "A" high school isn't fed by "A" middle school, and "A" middle school isn't fed by "A" elementary school? Am I understanding correctly?
That makes absolutely no sense if I'm understanding correctly. Football aside, it seems like a huge cost in busing kids wherever.
I've lived in Dallas and Abilene in Texas. In Abilene, a city of 120k+, they have two inner city public schools districts. Abilene Cooper and Abilene High. One side of the city goes to Cooper and the other Abilene High. Each district has their own elementary and middle schools. There is also one public school on the south side of town. Abilene Wylie. This is where a lot of the "money" has moved and it's a good school district. Just as the other two, they have their own feeder schools.
Abilene High is 6A in athletics, Cooper is 5A, and Wylie is 4A.
It doesn't make sense if Little Rock does it differently really.

They couldn't afford the rent.
Same reason why stAte backed out of the future games in WMS they had planned after Okie lite played them there.
Just like when Arkansas had to buyout stAte's part of the contract in Verizon and play Okie Lite a few years in a roll in the early 2000s, orginally it was to be set with OU/OSU and Arkansas/State rotating against the Oklahoma schools, then other similar states scheduled in the future (Kansas for example) after the first year stAte couldn't afford rent and thought Arkansas should cover their costs for the venture while they benefited from the exposure.

South Arkansas prefers Fayetteville to Little Rock.

As someone who grew up in South Arkansas, then lived in Central Arkansas for 6 years for college and first couple of years of my career, and now have lived in NWA for 4 years.
The answer is yes.

Well then, end of discussion, cause you chose NWA or LR.
The fact is, you chose LR for college and not NWA.

quote:Yea, I did. I wanted to attend school where a couple of my best friends were going to school. It wasn't my brightest moment, but I was 17. Haven't spoken to any of those friends in years. Moral of the story: Don't let your friends influence the most important decisions in your life.
The fact is, you chose LR for college and not NWA.
Looking at it now in a more adult way, the quality of education from the UA is far higher than anywhere else in the state. No question.

Sooooo... everybody in South Arkansas should think like you then?

Yes, question. Both Hendrix College and Harding University are ranked ahead of UofA in some listings.

First, I love the entire state of Arkansas. It is my home.
I was raised in south Arkansas, went to school part in semi-central Ark, then finished in Fayetteville. Lived in West Little Rock, then moved to Fayetteville.
It is sad to go visit back home because of the decreasing population and many places closing their doors. I want every place I have a connection with, to thrive. Having said that...I enjoyed my time in Little Rock, but like NWA much more. I go south to hunt and fish, but that is it.

When one door closes, many more open
examples of new growth:
Promenade WLR
Bass Pro
Outlets of Little Rock
Shackleford Crossing
Big Rock Interchange
and for a shameless plug:
Woodlands Edge

What does any of that have to do with south Arkansas?
You're about half retarded

Not me. I would like it if Pulaski Tech had a JUCO program to feed the UA though.
