Duuuuuuude. That's what Sims was AMAZING at. If someone was open over the top, it was a TD. Very early in the year he would throw some passes at the feet of receivers. Think he did it to Coop in the LSU game as well. But for the majority of the year he was fantastic at it.
Coker looked lost so often. Even in games where he played well, he made the most ridiculous passes.

I think that we agree for different reasons. The INT versus OSU was wide open and cost us the game. It will never change my opinion of Blake, Bama hero.

How good would Sims have been without Coop? Cooper made Sims look much better than he actually was. I'm not hating on Sims, I thought he did a heck of a job for Bama, and he made some plays with his legs. But to say Coker is worst than Sims based off the Ole Miss game, which by the way he didn't start and came off the bench, and it was truly his first real test of the year is unfair. Yes, Coker threw the pick against Ole Miss that ended the game, but I thought the play call to throw it deep with around 3 minutes to play was a horrible call. Coker learned from his mistakes and played better as the season went on, and that's what you expect from a first year starter. Sims made to many terrible decisions at the end when it counted most

How good would Coker have performed if he had to do a lot more becuase he didn't have Henry?
A lot of you keep mentioning Cooper but seem to be forgetting that Coker had a much better group of receviers to work with and a much, much better defense.

Sims had Henry and Yeldon. Coker had Henry. Both scenarios are good for a QB, but defenses tried to stop the run with both QBs. Cooper made sims look good because of his ability to get open and dominate, which allowed Sims to throw his way like 20 times a game

Cooper, deandrew white, Christion jones, Howard for Sims. Ridley, Mullaney, Howard, Stewart for Coker. I like 2014 better because of Coop

I will agree Cokers deep ball was off at times, but there's alot more to a Qb than the deep ball

Receivers and rb are a wash, 2015 o line was better, 2015 d was better. I like sims better though.
Both qbs had balls I think Sims was more of a baller though. My favorite of the saban era

Jones was bad (in 2014), Howard caught 14 passes, and White kept getting hurt. It's pretty hard when you're only good recevier is being double and triple covered. However if you have several threats you can just look to your next receiver.
Also Coker has much slower ball release as compared to Sims so do you think some of those screen passes to AC would've been effective?
Again how do you think Coker would've faced without Henry to carry the offense for much of the year?

Sims played better against Ole Miss than Coker did tbh. I know everyone remembers the INT at the end of the game (OJ Howard, smh) but to say Blake "cost Alabama the game" and then turn around and say Coker "never made costly turnovers."
Blake costed us the game that matters, the playoff against tOSU. Blake doesn't turn the ball over three times, and we could have won that game.

This means nothing because it is so speculative...
But I think Sims gets the job done with the 2015 defense and Heisman season Henry destroying people.
I don't think Alabama has a very good shot in 2014 with any version of Coker playing QB.

Henry did carry a lot of the load, but henry and Yeldon in 2014 carried a lot of the load as well. Henry was shut down in the CFP minus a few big runs and who had to step up...Coker

yeah, sims definitely "costed" us that game. the one we scored 5 offensive touchdowns in.
but Coker had nothing to do with our ole miss loss since he didn't start and everybody knows that's how qb w-l records work and that it's a very important and not at all outdated stat.
what a way to watch football.

Coker turned into a BEAST at the end of the season. I'm trying to judge both on what the brought to the table for the entire season.

I Cooper was a heisman trophy finalist though. Sims made a lot of huge plays for us all season. Game on the line 2 minutes left who do you want to try and drive you down the field?

Neither of those were a major factor in the game against Clemson. The 2015 defense played worse against Clemson than the 2014 defense did against tOSU.
Outside of that one 50 yard run, Henry was not a factor in that game.

Anyway Coke has a ring he won.Sims, not so much.

And OM is still OM.
