Maybe they are hoping to be early enough kids can come that wouldn't have because they are going to other games??
Having it at 6pm gives kids that were going to travel time to do so, and maybe squeeze in their game??

What an odd time
Perfect time IMO. The sun was brutal yesterday. It was not even hot out, just relentless sunshine.
