Weekend Rotation vs. CSU: Friday - Clarke Schmidt (Jr. RHP); Saturday - Braden Webb (Fr. RHP); Sunday - Adam Hill (Fr. RHP) #Gamecocks

If Webb can get his walks under control, our weekend rotation will be nasty.

Can any of y'all recall the last time we had 2 true FR as starters in the weekend rotation? (genuinely asking, I can't remember when/if that happened.)

I think it was 09? Belcher & Westmoreland.

The bats are pretty big concern for me right now, only 5 guys are swinging it well I feel like.

Man is Widener having the wheels fall off or what?

He can use the mid-week starts to find his game again, but he better snap to it if he has dreams of returning to the weekend rotation. Schmidt is just a sophomore, and both Webb and Hill are freshmen, so they are all younger than Taylor.
Then next season Crowe returns from his TJ rehab, as well as Cody Morris making his first auditions post-TJ surgery. Taylor could find himself buried behind depth....

Gamecocks win G1, 10-6!

Felt like we would get GM 1 ... it's GM 2 & 3 I'm worried about.

Gamecocks win the series, go for the sweep tomorrow at 1:30!

And I am very glad: would have hated to see Hill placed in a pressure situation of needing to win to take a tough SEC series. Not that he wouldn't be capable of doing it, but you still hate to have to be in the situation.
Webb (another freshman) pitched well despite the walks. He had really one bad inning where they scored their 2 runs - otherwise he was excellent. Get the placement cleaned up as we go, and we'll have an above-solid weekend rotation the rest of the way....

Call me greedy ... but it sure would be nice to get this SEC season started-off with a sweep.

Hell of a comeback to complete the sweep!

I only watched the first 2 Innings, had things to do, but Adam Hilll was dominant. He K'd 4 of the first 6 batters...but looking at the box score, I guess the wheels finally came off for him after that. Glad we got the win from behind, that will help a lot with the team's mentality this season.
