I'm pretty sure if it has a vagina, it's dumb regardless of what it looks like.

You're right. I was trying to make a point though.

Reb, I'm going to try and explain this very slowly so you can understand it.
MSU acceptance rate 71% Ole Miss acceptance rate 81% The 71% is not the same as the 81%. You did a good job in seeing that the "1's" were the same but you have to count both numbers. We on the Rant are very proud of you for trying.

Tulane is overrated as balls

Well yeah, your engineering classes are taught at a lower level.

Very rational and correct response. AU and Bama complement each other to serve the state of Alabama. While neither are Ivy League obviously, they serve the state of Alabama better than many wealthier states.

Tulane? - Now that's a joke. Ever work with a Tulane graduate? Try calculating the return on investment on a Tulane Chemical Engineering Degree vs. an LSU Chemical Engineering Degree. Thats just one example but a major one.

How do you say one school is better than the other when the schools have little in common. Ga Tech is very different than Emory or UGA. I think the best way toapproach this discussion is to compare fields of study.

Are you really arguing that LSU is a better school than Tulane?

I rarely speak in my capacity as a Vandy grad because I rarely see the point. To add legitimacy to what I'm about to say, however, I'm going to remind people of where I got my diploma. My observation is simple: You can get a quality education from any university in the SEC. Yes, some are "better" than others; however, that doesn't mean the ones that aren't on this list are bad. The difference between a Vandy education and an education from the lowest-ranked (academically) university in the SEC isn't worth trolling over. It's as much about cachet when applying for jobs as about the capabilities of the students at any given SEC institution. I know a lot of this is just trolling, and that's fine -- trolling is one of the Rant's raisons d'etre. But don't let yourself be fooled into believing it too strongly.

So, what you're saying is, I'm basically a Vandy grad?
Sweet.
Sweet.

Centre is a very fine school, as is Transylvania. I knew Kentucky would be one of those two.

Tulane is a shell of it's pre-Katrina self. They are going on by reputation now.

Well, you were. Then your stupid team started winning and beating Bama. Before, our fanbases were tightly bound in brotherhood by the auras of despair that clung to our respective fanbases from late August to the end of November. Now y'all are all fancy and nouveau riche and it's just tacky. It's like you don't even know how to be faded and bankrupt Southern gentility any more.

So, if the entrance requirements are the same, all that means is that you have dumber people applying to MSU.

D+ on the spin. You can do better than that.

They're using old numbers. UA's acceptance rate is around 40%, or less, now.

You really don't understand what the implication of identical admission standards means, do you?
The only way that lower acceptance rates is a good thing is if it indicates higher admission standards. We know that in Mississippi universities, this is not the case.
Therefore, the acceptance rates mean that 29 of 100 MSU applicants failed to meet the same standard that only 19 of 100 Ole Miss applicants failed to meet.

Actually since spaces are limited a lower acceptance rate means more people want to get in.
