Wtf kind of team are you talking about? I was thinking you were a softball chick, because they're kind of weird. I remember some softball girls at my school talking about the bulls on the team would put dip in their hoo-ha's during games/practices.
But with the a&m comment, are you a dude??

Walking to my truck, while we were crossing a very busy Hargrove one night after a game, my girlfriend started to lolligag as a car rapidly approached us. I beckoned her to giddyup; however, she replied, "they'll slow down, I might hurt their car." I grab her and escort her to safety.
I had to explain to her that it doesn't matter how you would approach an oncoming conflict. It's how they might be thinking or feeling. What if that speeding wagon was driven by a drunken fool, mad about losing their game, who simply isn't thinking correctly. Perhaps they'll smash you and think they had gained "points," and will only realize it differently after your mangled body is used as evidence of their poor judgment.
"I never thought of it that way," she said. From that day I've been able to etch away at the selfishness afforded a single child to a house with both of her parents loving -- each other, but especially her.

How to put batteries into a small set of string lights. She got all pissed that you had to orient the batteries in a certain way. "You think someone would have figured that out by now!"

Last year I had to show an engineer for the DoD how to use a ratchet. He just couldn't grasp the idea that you did not have to reposition the ratchet after each half turn

I met a surprising number of people back when I lived in the dorms at A&M who didn't know how washers and dryers worked. Not just not to mix reds with whites, but actually how to operate the machines. I feel like by the time you are around 20 that should be a basic life skill.
my first college roomate used nothing but DRYER sheets to wash his clothes our first semester

I was on the track team in high school. One guy needed a rub down, and the coach asked one of the guys to go get the Atomic Balm. The guy was gone forever, and finally came back with a shotput.

Evolution
And of course, you can't explain every facet of it in finite detail, but the gist of it is pretty straightforward. I think this is one of the most common, by number "simple things" that so many adults do not understand.

I had to explain to my dumbass mother in law that riding with your high-beams is not to be done at all times. She actually asked my wife why she was riding around with her "dims" on.

I'm a guy... My college sport has men's and women's teams, and we trained coed most of the time. I have heard similarly odd stories from/about softball players. Can't believe I missed that shite show in h.s.

I explained that latter and ladder is not the same to someone after they mocked my statement about choosing the latter.
