This can't be right. Arkansas fans told us they are the #1 school for all football related topics. The rant can't be wrong.

the premier programs in the SEC will be LSU, UF, UGA, and Texas A&M.

UGA is a great place for recruiting. Their problem is that they keep getting raided, quite successfully, by out-of-state schools. Kirby's biggest job will be keeping his old boss at bay, really.
Eh... We hit Georgia hard during Saban's first couple/few years. But as we've had success, we've been more national than regional. We'll get a couple guys from ga, but we had a recent classes with players from more than a dozen states.
If anything Kirby needs to do what Saban did at LSU, and bring state pride to the next level. The problem is, Atlanta is huge, but transient. Many to players don't have ties to UGA like in places like Bama or Mississippi.

Out of 23 signees last year 19 were from the Southeast including 4 from Georgia.Your bread and butter is still in the south and for good reason.Easier to do in your own backyard amd its a more fertile territory.

Even during the darkest days on The Hill, UT has been able to recruit GA. Hopefully that will continue.

Makes sense for now but if Miami can bounce back in a few years, 3 big time programs will be fighting inside that state.
It does get a bit tougher, but the bigger impact is on schools that recruit Florida hard. When the Big 3 in Florida are doing well, less top recruits go out of state.

Honestly I'm surprised the ranked SC so far back and both Ole Miss and Miss St ahead. Small population state surrounded by Bama, Auburn, LSU, and Tennessee seems like recruiting hell if it wasn't for the Jr Colleges in MS.
Are SC's facilities that far lagging behind? Tanner needs to call Darla Moore & Bob McNair to make some big donations.

Lots of large metro areas across the country that don't come close to producing the same amount of prospecfs.
Ga ranks second to Florida when it comes to FBS signees per HS FB participants.

Lots of black people go to Atlanta because there are a ton of other black people. Funny when whites do that, the area isn't "diverse" enough. Hypocritical bull shite.

Why? Because you hired a guy w/ no head coaching experience? Because someone wrote an article? Because you are going to Taxslayer Bowl? Because you squeaked by instate titans GA Southern and GA Tech?

No because we have spent nearly 2 decades hovering in or around the Top 10. Always in the conversation..getting the kind of biased assumptions that lead to all those high preseason rankings folks are always giving us shite about. You can see it in the recruits we get interest from now as opposed to the early and mid 90s. Donnan and then Richt improved UGAs brand. Kirby is he guy we hired to take it to the next level after Richt couldn't figure out that final piece of the puzzle. The stuff you mentioned is part of why he was fired. The stuff I mentioned is why he was retained so long. All this also happend while the ATL and north Georgia population kept booming. This program is set to take off like never before..if Kirby can't do it someone else will.

I agree Georgia is definitely up there. However, I think people really underestimate the effect of proximity to so many major programs other than UGA to that talent. Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Clemson all extremely close to where distance isn't really a factor. And you have the likes of Florida State and Florida coming in from the south.
This- FSU, AU, Clemson, USCe, and to a lesser extent Bama and even UF are closer than Athens to many of Ga's hotbeds (Voldasta, Columbus, Augusta, Savannah, Thomasville, etc.) Hell, FSU gives in state tuition to Thomasville residents....as does AU to Columbus residents.
Add the before mentioned transient nature of ATL (plus the fact that UT cant survive withouth NG and ATL talent) with every major program hitting ATL/ Ga. Talent is there, keeping it not so easy. If we could hand pick 30 kids from metro ATL and no one else we'd be top 5 every year.
Awake the beast and you could have one helluva run.

I'm also a little surprised South Carolina is so far back, but Ole Miss isn't that far off. Although they're a small state, Mississippi produces a lot of athletes, and being surrounded by Alabama and Louisiana means they can recruit those states (just as South Carolina does Georgia). Recruiting is good in the Deep South everywhere.
I've always thought Georgia might be the easiest place, even when everyone was saying it was Florida. Although many will disagree, I might would put Texas ahead of Georgia, though. Texas and Tennessee are both a little too low, imo, while Auburn and A&M are a little too high (A&M may have reached that height in recent years, though).

You can't win an NC recruiting only that state. Lord how many decades must pass before people realize that
Posted on 12/10/15 at 7:05 am to PhillyFan1994
And Mizzou fans still think they're so much better. Okay so your historical win % is in the .600s and we're in the .500s, so what? When you look at the two schools today, we're about equal.

No one has ever said we have the best recruiting pool.
Btw- have y'all hired your 5th defensive coordinator in 6 years yet?

Ummm, UGA is a national brand. It is also one of the most profitable and well recognized.

People keep forgetting that article is referencing In State Competition for recruits as why we have the easiest road. California has USC but also a ton of other instate school going after the best players, Texas even more so, and the hayday for Florida schools was the 90s before every college in the state seemingly decided to go to FBS at the same time. There is a ton of talent in FLorida and the Big 3 will get there if they have the right pieces in place but their pool is greatly diluted.
The best instate tradition is LSU as kids from Louisiana once offered by and large go to LSU.
We wil never keep them all at UGA but we get the lion share of the best or most fitting players year after year. Hopefully we can now concentrate on OL and DL players as that has been our biggest handicap which is insane to me...
