ETA: I don't know if that wheel route was on Coker or not. I believe Stewart was open down field, Stewart realized this and Coker still threw it short rather than looking down field.
IIRC, that was a 3rd down play. ArDarius has to know we need to get the 1st down.

Coker is gutsy, but he's the most scatter armed QB since Croyle. He has a strong arm, but wow is he all over the place with his release.
It's like watching Steve Sax throw to 1st base on swing passes and short throws. He has no confidence its going where he intends. He soft lobs the swing passes so much it makes them largely ineffective.

It's not a matter of "handling the truth". This thread was about Coker doing something well, and some of our fans have the nerve to turn it into yet another bash Coker thread.
Coker will never grace an NFL roster. We all get that. He's inconsistent. We get that. But why can't we celebrate when he does something right?

Agree 100%
I like the kid. I hope he wins it all just to shut the naysayers up.

I will agree that Coker had an off game.
However, he had at least 3 incredible deep passes that I can remember.
One of them should have without a doubt been a touchdown, but Stewart couldn't hang on. The one that Ridley caught was a thing of beauty-the throw and the catch.
For how poorly some of his short passes were, he was money deep.
He has been as good of a game manager as we could have asked for this year. Dude has serious guts, and is a fierce competitor. I have all the respect in the world for him, and I recant on my statements at the beginning of the year that he just didn't have what it takes. I was wrong, and am completely happy with admitting that.

Which is the complete opposite of what he has been doing. I was pleasantly surprised.

Coker is probably the second least talented QB we have had in the Saban era but the kid has guts and plenty of them. He plays his arse off on every single down.
There is no need to bash him. I think most people realize his limitations. But he's our QB and will remain our QB for the rest of the season. We should stand behind him for better or for worse.
And yes, that was a great scramble and throw.

Yes, because we had no idea he was one of our more limited QB's in recent years. Thank you for your enlightened brilliance. I'm sure we'll all listen to you intently from now on.

you should, since i actually live in reality. unlike a lot of folks i dont have rainbow dreams of unicorns running gently thru a field over one freakin play.
ok i will say this about coker. he is tough and obviously likes contact. there was a play last week where he rolled out, threw on time and it was a beautiful play for a td. that play yesterday was maybe his best busted play pass of the year. no doubt hes done some nice things this year.
but none of that fixes his total inability to get the ball out on time and accurate on quick hitters, especially on the goal line. why on earth our coaches are so hard headed they refuse to put bateman in on goal line is beyond me. because like it or not, we wont beat oklahoma kicking field goals. and after 5 years of college coaching, coker just can not be fixed. it will start next week against that florida defense. they will get after coker, they know how he responds to pressure.
with total honesty, i hope i am proven dead wrong next saturday by coker. i truly hope the qb we all thought he was when he stepped on campus, shows up in atlanta. it wont bother me one bit for every one of you to lambaste me to the core next sunday.
p.s. i just love how a post on an open forum gets all the dictators riled up. telling me i'm only allowed to agree with the op

Again, it isn't the lack of agreement with the OP, it's the time and context for said comments. If you want to have a thread disparaging Coker, go ahead and start a new one. I'm sure you will have plenty of fanboys that agree with you.
This thread is about praising something that he did right. It isn't rainbows and unicorns to acknowledge that he made a fantastic play.

Carl Lawson and Byron Cowart are the two guys attempting to tackle Coker on the play.

it hurts my fandom to think how awesome this offense could be with a competent qb
Or maybe it's just being a whiny bitch that hurts your fandom.

we get it, coker finds an acorn every now and then. but by and large, he sux as a d1 qb. not only does he miss wide open receivers. he throws the ball in the dirt behind a wr a step from the goal line. he continues to zero in on a wr that only catches 1 of every 3 or 4 balls that hit his hands. hes the slowest ive ever seen on a quick hitter. he takes far too many sacks when he could throw the ball away.

No one wants to hear the truth when it hurts, especially when we're winning.

Coker isn't a great QB, but that was a great play.
I was just celebrating a good play by him, nothing more
