Don't forget MizzU has
1. safe zones where you don't have to hear mean things said. I'm sure every coach would love that.
2. a bunch of players totally committed to social justice, if not the team

Yep, no place like Mizzu

Gary Pinkel's ace talent scouting efforts I assume. Because your DL's play has outperformed the 247 talent level for years.

did you happen to notice the list I put in that post?

"Aldon Smith, Sheldon Richardson, Shane Ray and now Terry Beckner "

and that was the "short list" version, I left out Markus Golden and now Charles Harris, just DLine players from within the state and from the two big metro areas. (Kony Ealy's from Mo, but NOT the big metro areas, he's from William Moores part of the state)

See my point yet? Mizzou is not stuck in a barren wasteland for recruiting, and it's not like Baylor, who has to recruit against 4 other D1 schools in the state.

I'm getting more comfortable with the thought of Odom as HC and Coach Kul as DC.

The real question is the OC. Who wants to come in and turn Drew Lock into Mizzou's 1st round draft pick in 17? The upside is huge for the right guy.

The Tigers need to hit a home run with the OC hire.

Herman is a good back up plan if Odom doesn't work out.

Not really.

Aldon was a three star, whose best offer outside of Mizzou was Nebraska. Sheldon Richardson was a five star stud, but he came from California so it doesn't help your point. Terry Beckner Jr. comes closer to your point, he is from Illinois but is a five star. Shane Ray on the other hand is the kind of three star that makes me wonder what planet Pinkel came from.

I mean that might seem like a talented group of players to you over a coaching career, but to a program like LSU, Bama or Florida that is one deep of a two deep in a single season. For all other programs to get the DL play Mizzou has they have to recruit four star after five star after four star and even then it doesn't always pan out. Look at A&M for example. Normally it is hard for DL talent to hide from scouts because big and fast is easy to judge so unless you beat out teams like Bama and Ohio St on NSD they are going to beat you on the field in the trenches.

If anything what I get from your post is that it will be very hard to Mizzou to keep the DL quality it has had in a post-Pinkel world unless the recruiting level jumps dramatically.

ok,, learn by repetition...

Those guys are all the in state recruits just from the STL and KC areas,, and YES, Sheldon Richardson is FROM STL, NOT CALI, where he went to Juco.(I see your confusion)

Shane Ray(KC) is Wendel Rays(former MU DLINEMAN) son. Like Markus Golden(STL) he's very prototypical of the 3stars Mizzou has been putting in the NFL recently, the big star kids like Sheldon and now Beckener are more the exception.

I'm really not sure how you can be confused enough to come to that conclusion, everything I've pointed out should lead you to the conclusion that the raw material, ie kids who are good athletes, but may need some serious coaching up, are right there for the taking, so if Mizzou retains it's Defensive coaching staff, there is no reason at all that the DLine ZOU won't continue. That is kind of the critical IF, that some of us have been kicking around in this thread.

Mizzou's defense is predicated on keeping the defensive staff, not Pinkel. Of course there is no guarantee a new coach that brought in an entirely new Defensive staff couldn't see how it's been done and do the same thing, but no guarantee he would succeed either.

Didn't Missouri go 5-7 in 2012 ? So this year would not be his worse year if they win more then 5 games.

So you think Missouri is one of the best open jobs this season ? So what jobs are better? I would think it's a average job at best. I can't see Herman or Fuente leaving their current jobs for Missouri. Patterson is not leaving TCU for Missouri that's. A step down. You guys are going to be get your hearts broke if you actually think your going to get a big name coach.

$4 million gets you a good coach. Thanks for playing.

TCU to Mizzou is a step down? You a Big XII fan? I would rather go to a team that competes for the SEC East title, rather than a Big XII team. Plus Mizzou has some serious dough to spend.

I mean not ncessicality, Texas is paying five million a year for Charlie. $4 million a year is for sure below "Splash hire" levels, I would think that threshold is now around $6 million a year.

With that said, Mizzou needs a splash hire less than any program looking for a coach right now. Yall just need a solid hire, and you have a ton of good options right there in your own locker room.

he's white I know. in fact he is pasty white. I'm just showing you how you are going to have to sell it to the concerned 1950 racist students ts. you think they know what the football coaches look like? hell no they are too busy hiding in their safe spaces.

I've been saying this for almost two weeks, it's mind numbing to me how people who live in the old confederacy have the gall to call Mizzou a racial shite hole. It's like San Francisco calling Portland gay.

I am a big fan of Mizzou's chances to get a good coach, but there is a 0% chance you are getting TCU's coach. First of all he has all these under the table oil royalty deals that means outbidding TCU equals paying him Nick Saban money and I don't see yall having the stomach to do that. Secondly he has built the TCU program into what it is and he has a lot of pride tied to that. It would take a NFL job or the Texas job to get him to leave.

But Mizzou doesn't need Herman, or Fuente or whoever the hot name is. Mizzou needs a solid hire and Mizzou will get it.

This...

-Odom to HC (he is a hot commodity right now. not sure why some people are laughing at this.)

-Coach Kul (DL coach) to DC. Keep him happy and churning out that line, baby.

-Make an OC hire... Pay this guy a lot of money...

ikr

I actually read that as "blank check" the first time... thinking yea I don't think it's going to take that to get him into the HC's office..
