Dooley might be the worst coaching hire in the history of sports

Mike Archer was worse
But, but Archer had the earthquake game! Kidding aside, you're correct. When Archer came in, we were expecting the upward momentum to continue from Arnsparger's success. It was not to be.

Will Muschamp. Took UF to never before seen lows, it's money and recruits. GD I hate Foley
This is just stupid. Champ was not a good hire, but not the worst hire in the SEC, he did hire very bad assistants. but the fact that you hate Foley, is really super tard level.

Derek Dooley's hire is completely inexplicable other than bearing his father's last name.
The man was terrible at Louisiana Tech. Garbage. Worthless. Not worthy of being promoted to Louisana Lafayette much less the University of Tennessee.
He won 1 SEC game in his final two seasons... 1.
Dooley has to be the cream of this crop.

Exactly.
We aren't debating the worst SEC coach. We are debating the worst hire. Some of the other guys listed were great hires at the time but ended up being crappy coaches.
Dooley Jr was WTF day one. Terrible hire of a losing coach.

Didn't y'all hire Hallman over Spurrier?
Shula obviously wasn't a good hire for us but we were in a bad situation at the time.

So, when are you going to tally them up and edit into your OP?

Yeah, Bill Curry laid the foundation for the '92 title. We don't win that without Curry, Lassic, Oden & Wimbley

I guess when you put it that way.

In one way it could be Galen Hall. He took the Gators to the brink of extinction and made them endure Darnelle for a year by being fired.
Croom was a hire based on pressure and wasn't qualified, it's why he was passed over by Mal Moore when Shula was hired.
But I think the worst was Brad Scott he detailed everything that Joe Morrison had built.
