A bit off topic, but when Fulmer was hired, what part, if any, did he have in Johnny Majors being forced out? My brother was a big UT fan, but he didn't personally care so much for Fulmer because of what he perceived/"heard" of his alleged lobbying for the job behind Majors back...any UT fans know if any of that is accurate or is it just urban legend?
There's some truth to it. But like most stories, what really happened is often embellished by people with an axe to grind. :cough: Scrooster/Bama fans :cough:
At the time, Majors was a mean drunk that treated the players and coaches like shite. The players were ready to quit if Majors had remained the coach.
Fulmer obviously lobbied for the position when Majors had his heart attack. But he didn't "stab him in the back".
Fun fact : Majors was stopped for DUI 2 weeks before his Heart Attack. Part of the story you never hear.

Back in those days there were only a few teams that were in the spotlight on a weekly basis in college football. To say Fulmer may have had some interest in playing at that place just to try and stir something up is just stupid.
Melvin Gordon was once committed to Iowa, an inner divisional rival to Wisconsin, but ended up playing at Wisconsin. Fast forward to today and does it make a difference for Melvin? Hell no.

Maybe some folks perceived that Cutcliff was a big reason for his success.
You think Fulmer would have as successful at Duke?

Fulmer has said it on numerous occasions...look it up cornboy.
Some folks may find that fact interesting...The Associated Press did.

Fact of the matter is, plain and simple .... Gamecocks beat UT in Columbia - Fulmer secretly passed the word that it was Johnny's fault and reminded them how well UT had done under himself while Johnny was in the hospital .... lobbied for the job behind Johnny's back and subsequently Johnny was canned within 24 hrs.
Johnny has never forgiven that fat bastard Fulmer and, correct me if I am wrong but the first time they have even spoken since was what .... two weeks ago?

He's a snake in the grass that stabbed Johnny Majors in the back and was a rat to the NCAA.
He got blacklisted.
He got blacklisted.

The fricking players lobbied for coach Fulmer.
And I remember the game, Mose Phillips made one of the greatest runs I've ever seen.

It's fricking hilarious the way the buttchuggers on this board try to minimize the fact that Fulmer stabbed Majors in the back.
The big one they use is that "well majors was a drunk." Well Phil is addicted to food.
Phil fricked over his boss after he had a heart attack for Christ sake. That's about as low and cowardly as you get.

I never could decide if you were a troll, or just an idiot. I realize now you are an idiot who is also a troll.
Not a damn word you typed is true. NONE!
Even the two weeks ago thing.

Fulmer is known as a very good man.
Actually no. He is known as a back stabbing coward.
He says he is no longer angry at UT because those responsible for firing his fat arse were fired. I wonder if Majors felt the same way when they fired Phil to hire Lane Kiffin?

It is amazing how stupid you are.
Have you ever made a post on this board that wasn't a troll? Ever?

I got no dog in this hunt...except to say you must be the most miserable man in the world. You literally never have a kind thing to say. It seems you hate everyone and everything outside of Alabama football.
Seriously, what kind of life is that? Not much of one.

Quit acting like you even knew Majors had a heart attack until someone on this board brought it up.
You are going to great lengths to convince people that you're more than a simple bandwagon Bama fan with zero knowledge of SEC history prior to 2009. It's pathetic.

You vol fans didn't know you were 14 out of 14 in reserve funds in the SEC.
I had to lay those facts on ya.
