For or Against Getting Rid of FLA Neutral Site?

First, it ain't all that neutral. Not by a long shot.
Second, it doesn't even make sense. It's not like Athens ----> Gainesville vs Jacksonville is going to save that much time.
Screw tradition. It ain't helping us either way. Also, Jacksonville is a pos town anyway.
You can have a cocktail party anywhere.
End it.

They better not end it before I have a chance to go.
Also, I'm in favor of it staying in Jacksonville. I like the 50/50 split

Stay in Jacksonville. One of the best traditions in CFB and by far one of the best we have....

It should never leave Jacksonville.

First, it is Neutral. There are as many fans in the So GA/No Fl area as there are Gators. Some of them can't get to Athens every year. Back we were on our streak of wins, UF claimed it was not neutral.
Second, it does make sense. It takes an already intense rivalry and magnifies it into a unique event with a 50/50 fan base. If you have ever been to one of the games, you know the tailgating and atmosphere is intensified.
Screw tradition. Get real. Respect tradition.
Jacksonville is so far from a pro town it's not funny. The Jaguars are second fiddle to the college teams, whether its UF, FSU, UGA, Miami or even Notre Dame. Half of the Jag fans are more connected with a traditional team like Pitts or Green Bay.

While not very "scientific" (it's based on Facebook likes), this suggests that state boundaries play a huge role in fanbase. There are a lot UGA fans in South GA, yes, but Jacksonville isn't in South GA, it's in North FL. That map suggests 4x as many UF fans as UGA fans in Jacksonville. That holds true all the way to the GA border. There's even a zip code in South GA that claims to have more UF fans than UGA fans.
I don't think the game should be moved, but I also don't think the current site is neutral. I don't think it puts our guys at a disadvantage. Sucks a little bit more for our fans to travel. But tradition outweighs that. Keep it in Jax

It should stay in Jacksonville. It's a great game to attend and the neutral site and tradition of the WLOCP make it something that most other fanbases don't get to experience. The location has nothing to do with who wins there.
quote:Wholeheartedly disagree. Tradition is a big part of why college football is what it is. That's part of why all these realignments suck so much, losing matchups that have been played for decades. You take the tradition out of it and you'll lose a huge part of what makes it special.
Screw tradition.

Does Tifton have a big enough stadium?

I'm on phone so can't tour near as much as I'd like to but will just say it should stay in jax forever

No fricking way, the game must remain in Jax. Myself & 50-60,000 other Dawg fans(20,000 of whom have no tix & go for the party) make this our last vacation of the year.
Enjoy your couch & beer while those of us who love this game & all the pomp, pageantry, tradition & special memories made(win or lose) in all these small towns that us Dawg fans take over for a week every year that continue to make this game special in the world of CFB...
quote:Very few Dawg fans stay in Jax. proper, we'll congregate at the landing on Thurs & Fri night but we're spread out from Tybee, St. Simon's, Jekyll Island, Sea Island, Fernandina Beach/Amelia Island, Jax Beach, Ponte Vedra, St Augustine etc...etc...
Jacksonville is a pos town anyway.
quote:That's what is wrong with CFB today... It's not just a "game" it's an event, hell, CBS has this game already scheduled as the 3:30 game of the week thru 2025,In my mind it's the official end of the summer & the start of fall/winter.
Screw tradition

Mine is not 'scientific" either. Just based on the 20+ years I lived in Southeast Georgia and the 12 years I lived in Jacksonville. I think I have a pretty good point of reference.
There are a lot of young ones in South Georgia who will pull for UF or UA, just to be different and get attention. And some because they are the unfortunate offspring of drunk UF fans. But the large majority are Dawgs.

If they move the game to another site, the TRADITION of Georgia playing FLorida at a "neutral site" would not end. It would continue. MIght could possibly even be better.
Auburn and Alabama used to play the Iron Bowl in Birmingham. That's why it's called the Iron Bowl. Just because they don't play in Birmingham anymore, hasn't ended the tradition or it's place as one of the best rivalries in college football.
I'm all for moving it and trying something new.

I think it would be cool if it rotated between Jax and the Dome.
Posted on 10/8/15 at 1:21 pm to Jefferson Dawg
There was some talk once upon a time to alternate the game between Jax and the Dome in Atlanta. That is probably the only idea that deserves consideration.
But it would still be disappointing to a large number of fans who either make Jax the only game that go to, or enjoy the yearly trip, the same restaurants, the beach, and the other traditions.

It should stay in JAX.
I know cops are trying to ruin Frat Beach and all festivities in St. Simons, but as long as that's still going on it should remain in Jacksonville.

You're joking, right? If you're not, the answer is hell no.
It's fine right where it is and no way in hell should it be in Atlanta, ever. I'd rather see it rotate it between Athens and Gainesville before playing it in the dome/Jax.

I was. It's geographically neutral
