This thread has been quite entertaining. That ole bro is gonna have one hell of a time in prison. I'm not sure how familiar any of you are with prison, I took a corrections class at UA and it scared the fricking shite out of me. Being a little white kid who is in there for a racist crime is not a good thing for his butthole. He's gonna either be raped and assaulted daily, or be put in solitary. Solitary for six months might literally drive him insane. If his appeal fails I'd bet he seriously considers committing suicide.

Unless the ABs or some other group decide it is not going to happen as a matter of principal and pride.

Or $50 a month in the right prison account can work wonders.

I seem to recall a kid who got drunk and killed people with his car who didn't get prison but this does?

What terroristic threat side?

Too bad he wasn't Black and calling for the murder of White people and police officers. He would have been invited to the White House.

the noose was just removed without any damage to the statue correct? How is that "defacing"? Not a lawyer, but I would think some damage to the statue would have to be involved. How is it different, on a broad scale, from putting flyers on telephone poles? That would be public property as well. Not condoning his actions, but I don't really see any laws that were broken. It's just race related, so

James Meredith is now a respected author and lecturer, who frequents the Ole Miss campus all the time. Ole Miss is still dealing with the repercussions of his admission in 1962. Not because the university is light years removed from all that from a diversity standpoint, nor because the Center For Southern Culture exists on campus to promote racial reconciliation. But because the intent of putting a noose around that statue was to say, "Meredith should be hung and f*** him." I think those six months in prison will give this punk a lot of time to reflect on the concepts of respect for others and civil behavior in a heterogeneous society. I think this redneck from Georgia got off light.

So this kid deserves jail time for a misdemeanor because Ole Miss has a dark and sordid history regarding race relations. That seems fair.

I'll be waiting on the sentencing for all the vandalism perpetrated by Black Lives Matter.

I seriously doubt that, it simply will be a message to others who are like minded.

All universities in the South struggled with integration. Remember George Wallace standing in the doorway at Alabama? But that's in the past. No university today anywhere would tolerate the sort of activity this punk chose to engage in. It was racist, disrespectful and worthy of the expulsion he received. That was what Ole Miss did. Then the legal system slapped him upside the head for his repulsive vandalism. Doesn't matter if the punk spray-painted the 'n' word on the statue or put a noose around it. Intent was the same. Justice was served. End of story.

Really doesn't matter what has or has not been done in other instances. Ole Miss and the legal system did the right thing in this instance. End of story.

It's threads like this that do not provoke thought or rational thinking. These threads bring out the worse type of folks imaginable because they "think" they are operating under anonymity. Here's a secret - you are not anonymous.
