Verne has a great way of calling and a good play by play voice. Just has a horrible understanding on the game and is bad with names.

Uncle Verne or Ron Franklin

For realz Munson or Gold
Sorry Eli Gold sucks arse. Munson was unique and loved by the dog fans. irritating as hell if you HAD to listen to him and you were the other guys. But he called a good game.
John Ward and Jim Fyffe were also excellent in their day.

Hope CBS brings him back to replace Verne.

Gotta be Bob Neal and Tim Foley, they were the 1st WTBS team in '82-'83 after the OU-UGA anti-trust suit that opened up CFB TV to the masses...
They had Craig Sager, Paul Hornung and Pepper Rodgers anchoring their SEC pregame show...
Changed the CFB world..

Unfortunately one could argue Finebaum is the modern day voice of the industry.

Finebaum....and Legend and Tammy

Top three announcers imo:
1. Keith Jackson - GOAT
2. Ron Franklin (emulates Keith)
3. Brent Musberger (the last 5 or so years)
Verne and Gary need to go away.

Gotta go with Ron Franklin. The games he called with Mike Gottfried back in the 80s-90s were as close to perfect as TV sports coverage can be, IMHO.
And in every long-time SEC fans heart of hearts, they know Munson was the best in history.

God I loved getting back home after a game to catch the re-air on ESPN and re-watching listening to Ron Franklin.
Also, Dave Neal holds a special place in my heart for the morning Jefferson Pilot/Lincoln Financial games - always got the day off to a good start with a decent SEC game to watch.

Sorry Eli Gold sucks arse.
As a Bama and NASCAR fan, it pains me greatly to say it but you're spot on.
Eli's really, really good calling a race but he calls football games in the same style and it simply doesn't work well.

Jim Fyffe
God I HATED that damned TOUCHDOWN AUBURNNNNNNNN thing, but as a game caller he was outstanding.
While not related to the OP at all, I also got to personally witness Jim Fyffe trying to get a VERY drunk Sonny Smith out of the Talladega, Alabama KFC one Sunday morning prior to the race.
It was about 9 am and they (like us) had stopped to get some chicken to carry to the race. Sonny was standing in the door repeatedly screaming "Jim, we don't have enough chicken Jim" while Fyffe was pushing him backwards towards the parking lot shaking his head and saying "Shut up and get in the van Sonny". It was hilarious. No harm was done and we had a big laugh. Today it would probably be a huge scandal. Life was SOOOO much easier before the days of social media and smart phones......

Definitely gotta go with Ron Franklin.

There are three at the top
Eli Gold
John Ward
Larry
Larry may get the nod due to the fact he has the clache to use one of two one name monikers
You say Munson or Larry when talking CFB announcer and people know immediately who you are talking about. Plus the iconic play calls.
John Ward had the classic catch phrase...... Give him 6....... Touchdown Tennessee
Eli is just very good. Plus the Sunday MRN calls. Classic
