His NFL MVP award disagrees with you.
And what's up with people throwing in other backs? It was comparing two. Dense folks 'round here.
MVP means he played on a good team. Thanks for proving my point. Players don't vote on that. The following year he was voted most overrated. Hmmmmmm.

I'm gonna name some of the top ten passers in SEC history
Jared Lorenzen
Casey Clausen
Bo Wallace.
Faulk was also a 2x all-american and 4x all-sec

You understand what proving one's point means . . . right?

Shaun may be the most under utilized great player in SEC history. Would make great offseason thread. Bookmarking.

Deuce. And it ain't close. Those bama teams were talented.
Shaun Alexander won an SEC title his senior season in 99 and then the year after he left, the 2000 Bama team won a total of 3 games including being shut out offensively by Southern Miss. That was a different Bama era than you are used to now.

Evidenced by the fact Alexander was always voted among the most overrated players. Even by peers. Deuce was widely respected.
Shaun won an NFL MVP award. For 5 or 6 years he was consistently a top 5 pick in fantasy drafts. If he was ever overrated, it was because his expectations were literally as high as they can possibly be.

What?
In the 2005 - 2006 NFL season, Shaun Alexander racked up 1880 yards on the ground (at 5.1 yards per carry) and finished with 28 total TDs (27 rushing).
His 1880 rushing yards are good for 11th all-time in a single NFL season and his 27 TDs are tied for second place, all-time, in a single NFL season.

To be honest, I was never all that impressed with Shaun Alexander and I considered him overrated. Admittedly, he was probably better then I realized.
Deuce was very good, but I don't remember being wowed by him. If I had to pick a SEC RB from the nineties, I'd probably go with Jamal Lewis.

You realize he wasn't talking about who the best RB was during the time just comparing deuce and Shaun right? Everyone knows Faulk was better had more production. Chill. Stay on topic.

Both did well against lsu but Alexander won hands down. He arse raped us in 1996 then beat us in 1998 with back to back tds in the last 2 minutes after recovering the onside kick to put the dagger in us. As a kid he gave me the sadz
