How much longer is Bielema at Arkansas?

He just doesn't seem like the type to spend the majority of his career - much less a decade in Fayetteville. I really liked the hire by Long. It seemed out of the box at the time, but is obviously starting to pay dividends. Bielema is an excellent coach and could win anywhere once his system is implemented. I just think the narrative that he jumped to the SEC because it's proposes the "biggest challenge in all of college football" was a cliché response to leave Wisconsin. It's widely publicized how suffocating Barry Alvarez has been at the AD position since retiring as the head man. Bielema's accomplishments at UW in 7 years are on par with what Barry did in 16, yet he was handcuffed by Alvarez and wanted out. Further proof, Gary Anderson jumped ship after just one year to Oregon State. Anyways, my point here is that no one (especially not a guy with B1G ties) jumps ship from Wisconsin to Arkansas unprovoked. It is absolutely a lateral move
I see Bielema at Arkansas for 2-3 more years maximum. Kirk Ferentz is the most overpaid, overrated coach in America and I think his time at Iowa is coming to an end. I think Bret would most certainly pack up and head back to his alma mater. He's familiar with the landscape, his style of play translates better within the conference, and obviously he's a Big Ten guy - *which further adds to my point that Arkansas is not his "destination job". I wouldn't rule out the NFL either. He's proven he can win at the collegiate level and his demeanor just looks that of an NFL guy.
Arkansas is a decent gig. Big money boosters and great facilities. Jeff Long seems like a good AD and from all accounts Fayetteville is supposedly a very cool town. I just think the only type of coaches who will stay at Arkansas for the long haul are guys with southern ties. Really, do you think Bielema gives a single shite about the state of Arkansas? Doubtful. The two best coaches in the history of your program (Nutt, Broyles) were southerners and were seemingly proud to be advocates for the school. No Yankee coach intends to retire or spend a significant amount of time at a place like Arkansas

No more than 3 years. Two options I see:
1) Continues to struggle in conference play and Arkansas fires him to save face. They need to at least act as if they expect more than 2 conference wins a year
2) He performs well and moves on to a better job. Let's face it, Arkansas is a stepping stone for him

Very true, we only get to play LSU once a year.

I see him there for 5-10 unless Iowa opens, which I do not see happening.

You forgot the best one was from Ohio, but most do.

2014 narrative: bert sucks
2015 narrative: he's too good, when's bert getting out of arkie?
i can't wait to see what 2016 brings.

Bert still sucks

For the record, I always liked Bielema. I think Arkansas did remarkably well for having to settle on their second choice who was in a much lower tier than what their first ambition was. Great recovery for Jeff Long.
